Celeste was born among the stars, helping the universe gather itself into the formations that created life. She cared for the cosmos like a loving grandmother, nurturing the endless worlds. In time, she descended to the worlds to enjoy the fruits of her labor, appearing as a common Box Turtle. She was never far from her duties though, her carapace acting like a window to the wider unknown.

My newest gourd turtle made for a gallery in Charleston, SC. Celeste took me longer to paint her than to sculpt her. XD Well worth it though. She's 10.5 inches long, made of 3 gourds, wire, and epoxy clay. Glass eyes. 32 hrs of work (18 in paint).
