Even better, what if two sphinxes asked riddles to each other and they both failed? Would they be doomed to be forever locked in an eternal stalemate!? A contest of wills from which there would be no escape!?
No, in all seriousness, I'm pretty sure they'd be immune. Though in the case of Miranda, in the setting she's from, she's not really a sphinx; she's the sphinx, and chances of running into someone else like her are pretty remote.
This was a pretty loose sketch and it's got some flaws, but it was still fun to draw!

Since "don't answer" is an option, you could always do that. Also, I feel like you could answer each in turn as long as you make it really clear who you're answering each time.
