More stuff about the mixing and mastering process...
So, going back to this post here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/28131074/
I feel this isn't brought up a lot in the community/fandom a lot, and its VERY IMPORTANT STEP if you wish to pursue the similar path that I and others do...
I see so many people start and then fade away, all the time through many iterations and years...
Some don't even move on or learn these steps and are stuck in this mindset that they were probably back in there beginning or even to call out their teenage years...
Its something you have to realize if your serious about things you want to do, its no lay away, and we all have to face it sometimes...
So, here is another example of a track in the mix-down process, its the step after the creative part that everyone one loves to do, but this is the serious professional part that everyone kinda hates but its necessary to the process, and after is mastering, basically three steps...
Everyone has there own way of doing there mixdowns, there is no specific right way, but there is wrong ways of doing things if your trying to go for a specific sound...
On this particular project, I am using an artists by the name of Enrico Sangiuliano as a reference to this particular track as this track is kinda close to his style of production, so I use a few of his tracks as an AB references so I can go back and forth and make my track punch and hit like his...
You would do the same thing if you where doing any other style of music, its not limited to electronic, if you know what the podcast "NAIL THE MIX" is then you know what I am talking about...
From the more mixdowns I been working on, if you can tell from my track "Tech-Gated" the kick sounds a certain way, and yes I did use Enrico as an AB reference on that mix down...
Most of all on this track is the layering of certain elements, you wouldn't notice if I told that there was 3 layers of sub bass in this track compressed together, unless I showed you he mix down, the the sections all come together over time, not all at once...
There is three different snares compressed together for the main snare on the two which is later combined and compress with the clap to make that kinda chunky pat sound...
On hats, they are going through processes as a section comes in one at a time, its to make everything clear and present when it comes in...
There are so many elements in this track on the main parts, and then when breaks come in, there are other things working as well...
I started grouping things together using buses and bus compression, which works out in my favor when routing all the audio signals to multiple other busses and to the main out...
I added something that my brother showed me that sets like a form around the track which I mix into, when he showed me, it sounded like Enrico's tracks, which I was amazed...
To find out later, he uses the same program I use for mixdowns to do his mixes as well, so I am incorporating that into my production...
My favorite track of his is A Further Existence if any recommendation...
His production sounds completely different from everyone on the drum code label, its so unique and aggressive and clear...
But yea, if your serious about the path your taking, I recommend moving forward...
To be surprised, I never thought I would surpass some of the people I looked up too here...
For anyone who does what I am exactly doing in terms of style and production, I don't see much, and I am kinda sadden by it, that potential was lost and they put themselves so far behind...
They gave up or moved on because they didn't realize what was in front of them, and when they returned later, they are way back in the same place they left off, year behind...
There is only a handful of people that I know of that are either above me or around me in terms of how committed they are, not even my partner who I am trying to help comes close, and I want to see him return far beyond the state that he left, he has a lot of potential...
It takes a lot to impress me and grab my attention, and that's the reality I have to face when I am doing the same thing to others and the world, because out there, there are standards and expectations that people want to be blown away, even if its like in the genres I do, like Techno, Prog-house, trance, and I have a fuck ton of projects that would probably raise the bar...
For my biases, I hate drops, I hate bangers, I hate uncreative motion, hate simple loud noises without feelings, I hate nonsense mumbling in a triplet format, and I really hate "EDM" in terms of how its now a genre of its own, for I separate myself from the commercialized over satirized nonsense from how it was created and how it is now, call me condescending all you want, but its how I approach things, if its void creativity and mind, even if I don't have a soul myself...
I like really good things with movement and effort, usefulness and cleverness with tools, really complex ideas that sound great when executed in the right manner, I blame the mau5man for that, but what can I say, I really respect his particular tastes, and it was from there I built my pallet...
But I hope that talk didn't throw you off, if you like the generic EDM plastic, then go for it, its not my thing...
Hate me, but I have my reasons...
But all in all, if you want to commit yourself to something, don't hold back on it, be serious in your skills, and don't fall behind unless you already made it far and you had enough...
As much as I can say...
Until then...
Ps, this track is for my other alias, it won't appear here after this...
