This is a little something I wrote during FA's hiatus. I've been reading a lot of Star Wars novels lately, and so I was inspired to do my own commentary on the Jedi of the Republic.
This contains my viewpoint on their morals and political influence, as well as an alternative view on their chosen weapon.

Having Star Wars in mind, this makes for an intriguing read, Scier! =O
I read it nice and slow, to get the feel of EVERY word, and gradually link them to that surrealistically scientific world. 8U
I find my favorites sentences to be:
"Ending lives is exhaustively simplified."
"Zeal resurrected as a prophet to the murderous selected."
The former embodying a morbid aspect of the lightsaber, and the latter the same, but with a hint of Star Wars ambiance.
A very entertaining read. ^^

Poetry is an exercise of structure upon language, stricter than a common paragraph, and oftentimes much more beautiful. That's why I like it. In this particular poem, you describe something intensely familiar to us in a way that many (or at least I) would not have considered. The true test is whether the reader can guess the subject of the poem without knowing the title!
That would have been fun. I don't think I would have gotten it. Then again, looking back over it, the references to "cauterized wounds," "blackened flesh," and "archaic knives" would likely have been the strongest clues.
That actually sounds like a neat challenge. Create a collection of poems that describe something in a different way, and see whether the reader can guess the subject. I'm sure it's been done, but still... :D

I have a good number of works which "beat around the bush" on a topic. They use large words, metaphor, and subtle clues to speak about something in a way people may not recognize. Those are often works where I am attempting to test my vocabulary or my form. =3
I have a couple on here that are in a similar style, and I think you might enjoy them. =3
