Evil piggy of doom!!
Don't take flash photographs of guinea pigs while they sleep, you see their evil side!! D:
Yes, he is actually asleep, if you've owned one you'll probably know they sleep with their eyes open most of the time and thus make it a bit freaky when they go into the REM part of sleep O.O However I've seen guinea pigs that sleep with their eyes closed, mine doesn't ever though.
He looks so comfy there XD all propped up with hay. He's only sleeping there though because I took his house out for a bit, he use to keep chewing it and breaking his teeth on it, he's got it back now.
He is a 6 or 7 year old, old man he is.
PIGGY UPDATE:
Saddly deceased, had to have him put down on december the 18th 2009, going to miss that little guy a lot. T-T

Cute Piggy While I don't have one of my own I cared for quite a few of them when I volunteered at the Humane Society. Though I did have rabbits and their teeth are similar to pigs as in they keep growing which is why they LOVE to chew. I got most of my rabbits toys from here: http://www.petwerks.com/indexpage.cfm?category=7 All natural toys. No coloring...
At least this will give you some ideas. Maybe try a soft wood like balsa. Paper towel tubes are great too.

Thanks muchly, situation has changes quite drastically though, I'm not sure how much long he'll last, or if its cruel to make him last much longer, I'm not sure anymore.
The vet now thinks it's a mix between mites and possible organ failer/failing, perhaps the liver, he's got all liquidy filled bulges, which was clear liquid the vet found.that was ok he was still happy and eating loads now he's chewed his skin to bleeding poor lad now he can't lay down or walk with out it hurting it seems. I duno if you've got any suggestions but I have a feeling this could be it if he doesn't have a chance of improving and letting him go on will just make him suffer more, T-T I might seriously have to consider having him put down if he's not going to he comfortable and happy again.
All got very tough over the last couple of days.

Unfortunately this is never an easy decision. I was faced with a similar situation for one of my rabbits who among other issues was not eating. After running every test possible the vets could not find the problem though they suspected cancer. So after two weeks of force feeding him and no change I made the decision to have him put to sleep.
From what you said if he is truly suffering organ failure and the vet doesn't see a way of stopping it then I would have him put to sleep. I know it sucks that you might have to but no sense in prolonging his suffering.
