A new character from the creative and talented  Feijoatl !

This is Nemotha, a member of the Avrakii, which is an insectoid race in the sci-fi stories I'm working on. I'm keeping some of the details scarce right now, but the Avrakii possess glands that secrete flammable chemicals. The species is actually quite fireproof, and members regularly ignite themselves in order to cleanse their bodies, as well as during combat against less resistant enemies. They also tend to radiate a pleasant level of heat when not ignited, though the temperature varies depending on the individual and their mood.

Avrakii don't see in the visible light spectrum; Instead, their large eye-blades are sophisticated and sensitive infrared sensors. While they cannot discern color aside from its thermal properties, and the overall range of their sight is shorter, Avrakii otherwise can see almost as clearly as most vislight species, at least as long as there is heat to see with. (Imagine a top-line FLIR camera, but with the incredible resolution of the natural eye)

As you've likely noticed, the insectoids are also quite capable of changing their stance between two and four limbs, and can easily traverse vertical surfaces or even walk upside-down. This serves them well on their homeworld, with its rough and rocky surface, but also proves quite useful in starships, which benefit from not requiring a single "down" in their designs.

I haven't quite figured out Nemotha's specific position or goals, but for now let's be content knowing they're an ambassador from a distant part of the galaxy. One that I hope to introduce someday soon. ^^


And now for my usual gushing, because this design is amazing! I knew it was right for these buggos as soon as I saw it! The combination of smooth and sharp lines is so captivating, all the glowy bits are very pretty, and every design detail just feels so right and natural! I'm so happy for the chance to adopt this handsome bug. X3
