The Prophecies Begin
yesterday i posted this as an april fools on tumblr and twitter ex dee
There's a SHOCKING lack of 3D artwork being made by Warriors fans. Actually I guess it's not too surprising - 3D art depends on a lot more then just a piece of paper and a pencil, and that makes the bar of entry higher then most young fans can manage.
Anyway, here's Rusty before he ventures out into the great unknown and becomes Firesuffix. Because of the nature of the Warriors fandom and how everyone sorta shares designs, I gotta say that I was the one who designed him. I like the idea of him having more of that pale orange on his face. And more fire symbolism, please. Everyone always gives him heart markings - which I love and lowkey included myself, look at his chest - but there's not enough Blatant Flame Markings in his various designs.
I could go on forever about Warrior Cats fanart. I really enjoy it, especially since I've been reading the books and understand more of the context now. I think that there's an untapped well of potential in utilizing 3D to create it. 3D lets you make more complex designs, and once a character is created, textured, and rigged in full, you can use them again and again instead of having to redraw them. Also it's just different.
Zbrush > Blender > Photoshop
I started this project, character design and all, at the beginning of MARCH GODDAMN. It took me forever because I was learning and also life gets in the way.
I'll post the 2D concept art later.
