The man on the left is my 3rd Great-Grandpa, Johann Joachim Hans Heinrich Bandow. Born February 11th, 1837 in Mittelwendorf, Mecklenburg-Schwerin (incorporated into Germany in 1871), died in Milwaukee, Wisconsin March 11th, 1898. He is my immigrant ancestor on the Bandow side, arriving through Castle Garden, New York, America's first immigration center, on October 30th, 1863. He headed straight to Milwaukee and that is where we've been ever since!

He is buried at Union Cemetery in Milwaukee, but sadly his grave is unmarked.
