A while ago (as in many years ago), I employed
marmelmm's Tali Hartoh-Mason in a drive-through role in my perpetually on-hiatus comic (going on nine years now), What, me Furry?, using her profession as a time-cop she masquerades as a bus driver, intercepting another guest character whose owner drifted out of fandom and I could no longer assume permission to use. See "Put on a Bus" on TvTropes.com. But along with the comic being sidelined for a variety of sketchy reasons, came the difficulty of nailing down a "look" for Tali, since she's been drawn so often in so many styles by so many other artists.
When I penciled the above-described sequence, I used a much more human-proportioned head and face for her, essentially making her an anime style catgirl--minus the anime eyes (which was a notable departure for my usual style). But there was something about it I couldn't quite put my finger on that didn't look quite right. Some time afterward I did a test pic of her posed next to the vehicle she was driving, a SEPTA trolleybus built by AM General. That one still didn't come out the way I wanted, but set a precedent that surfaced in the Artist Alley of this past Furnal Equinox. I got ZERO commissions at FE, and that left me time to sketch up this pic which returned to a style more consistent with my own, but that still fit well with the bulk of Tali fanart. Post-con, I scanned the page and heavily refined the backdrop before coloring it in a line-less style, then added Tali in all her glory. I'm pretty sure that's not a SEPTA uniform she's wearing though, and that baseball cap is even less official...at least in that agency.
So while the impetus for this pic well predates MMM's recent hospital stay, it's emergence fits in well with the flurry of get-well pics recently posted, not to mention the pun of a timecop tapping on a watch while looking at you :D

Looks good and perfect cover for the Temp Corps - ghod been ages since I last typed that - old furnet BBS days. Not exactly out of the fandom, but heck Cain, Ragnar and Blackwolf might enjoy a bus ride. Just drop them off at Lost Lake in Furae or Lost Lakes in Furcadia They haven't been there in 20 years and I run that dang guild.

As soon as I saw the thumbnail for this, my thought was something along the lines of... "More attractive than a Return to Oz Tali mighta been!"
