I'm trying to take people in the city and turn them into anthropomorphic animals based on their traits and whatevs
hyenas are scavangers; don't actually hunt for their own food. they just take it from other critters.
so yeah. homeless hyena. i thought it made sense.
pen&ink and watercolors
i need to add something on the sign lmao
---
guess i'll put this here, too, since it's pretty fucking furry lmao

Actually, they are sorta wrong. x3 Hyenas and lions actually both hunt a lot. Neither are exclusively scavengers, though thanks to movies like The Lion King, hyenas are shown as exclusively 'noble' and gentle and such, where hyenas are sneaky, backstabbing scavengers that do nothing but harass lions. x3 Where, it's mostly the lions that are the cunts and hyenas are more cuddly and won't try to rip your throat out if you crouch down like lions have shown to do. x3
Though about 10% to 20% of both of their diets are scavenging, based on time of season, area they live in, and abundant food sources. Mostly, the two steal from each other cause both lions and hyenas are tied for the first place as the top of the food chain, going so far as lions raiding hyena dens to kill their pups so there is less of a threat next generation, and hyenas retaliating to infiltrate sometimes into lion territory to kill lion cubs for same reason. Though where food is abundant, it has been proven also that hyenas and lions are like BFF and play with each other sometimes. =3
Though hyenas have the jaw strength and stomach fortitude with strong enough acids to break down and eat carrion better then lions, as nature has made them evolve to be that way, case without hyenas, the carrion would cause diseases and pestilence in Africa that would kill most animals and people quickly. So I'd say, a 'freelance urban nomad' as a hyena works out, since they both are misunderstood animals, and are often left with the dirtier part of life in a sense. =P [/end_pointless_info_giving]

Hehe, unlike most furries that pick a species based on looks alone or their stereotypical behavior in the fandom, I tend to like to look into the history, habits, and real traits of the animals far too much and never stop learning what I can, when I can. XD So occasionally I'm prone to have a little rant about the useless info i know to educate others. x3 I'm just glad there is so much positive publicity for hyenas in the last few years debunking the brainwashing media, movies and TLK did to us. x3 So you are very welcome. =3
