This ref sheer is for my Kenku Necromancer character who shall soon finally be used for D&D. I plan on commissioning plenty of art of her. Sometime.
Backstory:
Stupid Bird (SB) was born in the eastern lands. She was born to Krick and Krack 12 years ago. Once while searching the refuse of a reclusive old gnome, she found a book of spells. She saw a spell of flight and attempted the incantation, utterly failing at her attempt.
Her attention now on the arcane, it wasn't long before she left her home (at age 9) for new adventures out of the lands she once called home. Mere days after leaving, she found an injured young human man in ruined plate armor and brought him to a nearby town. She was allowed in, at the behest of the man's family who lived in that small town.
Helping care for him, she grew an attachment to him and when he awoke, her's was the first face he saw. He was hurtful in his remarks to her but also thankful. She grew an infatuation for the man, named Jack Harrick
Once he was able to stand, Jack stayed at home for a few days always shadowed by Stupid Bird (as he had begun calling her, or SB for short). When he tried to leave again for adventure, his family forbade him. He couldn't go alone and eventually nominated SB as the Kenku had saved him after all and she was the only one he could convince to go adventuring with him.
The two spent the next few years together (to Jack's chagrin as he tried to leave her at various places early on before deciding to just let her follow him) adventuring and making money. Jack became a terrific fighter and bowman while SB learned the ways of a Mercantile God and healing and magic.
Unfortunately, one day while clearing out a dungeon, the two came upon a necromancer's cove and while fighting Jack was sliced through by a skeleton's blade. SB got Jack back and looked through the old spell book she kept on her. She found a revivify spell and desperately tried to cast it but to no effect. She nearly destroyed the book in her anger.
She spent a week mourning for her lost love before she took matters in her own hands. She found one of the few pages that remained in the old spell book had a spell of animating dead. Sacrificing most of she had, she called upon a dark god to bring her love back. She gave her priestly robes, most of her holy objects (minus her holy symbol and a flask of holy water), the last pages of the spell book, her total arcane knowledge save for a few low-leveled spells and cantrips, and an eye. Her soul now tainted by the dark ritual, her love rose from the ground.
What rose wasn't the same being that had fallen. What rose, while identical in looks to Jack, had the mind of a mindless zombie. Despite this, SB embraced the figure and rejoiced.
She now journeys the continent with her risen dead "boyfriend." She conversates with him by replaying entire conversations the two had while Jack was alive. Years of conversations replayed by SB. Jack became her mouthpiece to the various towns and anytime her Jack mouthpiece can't cut it, she charms them.
