Yes. By hand. First the image is drawn on paper (or digitally, then printed). Then the image is traced onto the leather piece. Once it's traced, it has to be cut into the leather using a swivel knife. Once it's cut, then it's tooled to make the image appear 3D and textured. Once that's done, it has to dry, then it can be stained with various leather stains, and painted with acrylic paint. Once that dries, it has to be sealed. The whole process takes about two days for a single badge.
