So there I am, down along the river valley, taking pictures of the few hundred Canadian geese that had decided to take a break in the river. They were floating down the North Saskatchewan in groups of 50 or more, so it made for some nice shots.
I happen to look up as I was changing lenses and there it was. The shadow of a huge bird in the sky. It banked around a tree and I could clearly see it for what it was: a bald eagle!
I didn't even think we GOT bald eagles this far north!
In a panic, I whipped out my camera, focused the shot, and realized the bird was being blocked by the massive bushes that flanked me from almost all sides. Swinging my bag around, I darted forward and set to climbing the small hill in front of me to get a better vantage point before the eagle's lazy glides took it out of range.
One step, two steps, SLIP!
I slid down the hill on my stomach, and though I managed to save my camera, the bag, my clothes, and my pride were soaked and muddy.

Aaaaaand the eagle flew away.
All i got was some parting shots as he mocked me from above.

Stupid frictionless frozen water particles. <_<
