It should be noted that this character is black, not white, I just didn't shade his feathers the rest of the way in.
Raven Lord
Status: Demigod
Domains: Nature, life cycle, passing beyond
The Raven Lord is often referred to as an affiliate or even the steed of the plague goddess Chel, but most scholars of magic disagree with this common pretense. References to this being can be found farther back than most of the pantheon in power. In fact, it’s been postulated that most casters will have at least one passing encounter with the Raven Lord, and never know.
He’s one of the most neutral of all of the deities and demi-deities. By all accounts, he (and it is definitely a he) is unconcerned with the workings or mannerisms of humans or any other sentient race. The avian attributes of his appearance stem from the common thick-billed raven, but the rest of his appearance is in flux. Often, he doesn’t seem to even bother with wings. He’s been reported to be in the guise of a raven, but more often is seen in the form of what can be described as a large wingless griffin or a horselike form. He’s by far one of the most plastic in his appearance. Rumors circulate of a humanoid form, but some scholars dismiss this as wild storytelling.
There are unifying traits, no matter what appearance he takes. For starters, the Raven Lord will have more than two eyes. In bird form, he’s usually seen with either five or six eyes (three on each side, or three on one side, two on the other). This scheme is repeated in his larger variations. The eyes are always almost perfectly round and black, with horizontal green slits. These eyes do not necessarily blink in unison. Another identifying trait is that his bill has gold hoop piercings along the top edge. Finally, there is his overall color scheme. His main body is black as well as his bill, and he has a rough cross shape across the back of his head in red. The red stripe continues down to his back and into his tail feathers.
Students who believe they have met the Raven Lord are advised to treat him with caution, but respect. His animal appearance hides a shrewd intellect. He can speak most tongues freely. He generally has no possessions on him, but is occasionally seen wearing a halter with reins. Students are advised not to take this as an invitation to ride the demigod. He is often reported as having a sense of humor. He’s also quite good at finding lost things.
Do not ask him for favors.
