I dig the heroic, dutiful or "badass" composures of a lot of warrior art-pieces I've seen, but I also really like this expression here.
Whether this fellow never wanted to be a fighter to begin with, or is simply distraught at the damage of his weapon, I see the expression on his face as immensely "human," if you will.
