I know a bit on them... :) Looking at a G5 across the room, nearly identical in appearance to yer 4, and I didn't even look at the towers... I just looked at the keyboards... I am SOOOO geek... ^^;

*laughs* Trust me, I know exactly how it goes. Its kinda funny...anytime my room-mate and I are watching TV, the second a camera comes up onto screen, we're like "Damn Nikons!" or something equivalent depending on what they're shooting. *^^*~

They're hooked up to two different machines - one Mac and one PC. Two screens on each. *^^*~ Useful for running different applications - both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Sadly, no. The desktop is a dual 1.3 G4. Definitely wouldn't mind a faster one, though.

I am debating a wacom tablet. I question just how useful it will be for the stuff I do though. I suspect it will prove most influential in my mask work, but I only do that with my snowboard sequence shots really. Worth it you think?

That really depends on how much mask work, or retouching, you do. Personally, use the tablet to airbrush out imperfections in the shots...its a heck of a lot easier to do with pressure sensitive brushes than it is with a mouse. Other than that...using it to edit layer masks is the other big key to having it.

Other than that...it really depends on you. I'd suggest getting a cheap(er) tablet to start with, see if you actually use it and like it...then later on dropping the money for a quality tablet. Have to see if it has its place in your workflow, first. *^^*~

Yea, that's kind of what I'm thinking too. A basic Intuous first or something. I understand that the dimensions of the tablet are "stretched" over the full monitors pixel dimensions, thus if you have a small tablet, a small movement shows a greater trace along the screen itself (thus a loss of accuracy or a need to zoom in). If that's the case, it would behoove me to get a larger one at least.
