Now, there was a single scene in the whole movie which made me cringe in disgust, and that was the one with an eagle... Please let me explain.
The trope "Predators are mean" is BEYOND DISGUSTING AND NEED TO F**KING DIE ALREADY. We live in damn 21 century, and not in some stone age when people believed that there were "evil" and "kind" animals. For f**k's sake, creators! What the heck, in your opinion, the predators should eat - grass?? Or feed on air or sunlight??? Showing how the eagle, the natural born predator, hunts a goat, - just to chase it away with laughs? I understand you have censorship, but for f**k's sake - just do NOT make such scenes at all, if you can't handle predators. Tell me - are you ALL VEGANS? Just all and everyone of you, huh? Or maybe not? And some of you surely have pets, like dogs and cats (which are predators, wow). And of course you buy meat in the markets which - surprise! - wasn't grown on some damn tree, but somewhere, somehow, the cow was killed for that, right? That makes you nothing but hypocrites. Especially if you show animals which Percy was ESPECIALLY obsessed with - let me remind you - lion, snake, and spider! All of those are predators and WOW, they hunt, kill, and eat their catch!
Another hypocrite thing is that that piece of meat wasn't even sympatetic in any way, and most likely will be eaten later anyway - by humans LOL. Because - surprise! - that's why people have cattle mostly - to shave, milk, and eat. So I honestly couldn't care less about that goat.
And on a lighter note - I believe that Meechee, being much more clever, is able to understand the meaning of the whole "circle of life" thing and how the natural selection and food chains work. Maybe she even could watch with Percy how eagles hunt in the wild.
NB: The animated short I STRONGLY recommend you to watch about the subject - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtWYvo0vMO8

I see your point, but it was literally a short scene used to introduce Migo to the world under the clouds.
Of course they're gonna show something like a wild animal hunting prey, but Migo being the sweet guy he is doesnt understand that. He's probably never encountered predators before, he just knew that goat was being attacked and acted out of his own instincts.
I doubt it was any deeper than that- the movie's message literally involves NOT misunderstand "scary" or "dangerous" creatures. But the part with the eagle was just to offer a sense of Migo's naivety to the new world, and his empathy.
He didnt want to see a goat get eaten, that's all there is to it. It's not trying to tell US the eagle is bad, Migo just thought that way.
