RFTigermode Commission - Steampunk Triceratops
Ah, here I am, doing my daily inspection of my airship, checking off my list to make sure everything is working fine. And normally I do love birds; wonderful fellows. But they follow me no matter how high I go! How am I supposed to concentrate with birds perching all over everything and singing, and singing, and singing, GAH! *grumble*

Not going to lie: I opened this without knowing it was posted by you, and the first thing i thought was "Matt will like this" :-P
Also, I had the same thought with this one: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/864909/ regarding what you once commented about your college radio thing

i really love this pick the way its drawn. i cant help thinking that is there a story behind this pick. it may be a good story. ^^ also don't worry about the birds they love to hang around with you. i would love to have them around me ^^. i would love to see more of this. hope your feeling well buddy ^_- and hope you have a swell Christmas
Hi Red! I have a story setting behind this picture, where the race of triceratops love building air ships and sailing around the world. However, I don't have any stories written in it yet. A friend of mine and I are working on an outline for a story featuring myself like so!
And I'm a bird lover too, would love to have friends like this, so long as they don't leave their droppings on me! Ironically, in that story, there's a raven fellow who is best friends with me here.
I'm doing okay, currently enjoying the snow we have outside! I hope you have a very Merry Christmas too!

Well, perhaps not all steampunk fellows were overalls, but I'm a practical kind of steampunk triceratops! I don't wear clothes for flashiness, I wear for utility. Plus, nothing goes quite as well together as tools and grease as a good set of overalls. Not like I can get a shirt on over my head, horns, and frill anyway!
Glad you loved the picture!

*slaps you on the shoulder in a comradely fashion* Excellent, glad to hea rit! *munches on some of the greens and swallows* Ah, that's the stuff!
Now that I have fed you, it's time to get this ship in the air! Untie those gang lines there while I get us inflated.

While practicing triceratops expressions I was looking at this picture as a reference and realized that this picture is really awesome. I especially love the clothing you're wearing in this picture. Utilitarian engineer getup with cool belts and tools. I love it and might even have to barrow some ideas from this picture. The artists did a great job.
It's definitely one of my all-time favorite pictures and still my favorite Triceratops picture (even if my tail isn't visible and I prefer an orangish-brown hue for my scales). It has pretty much everything I wanted to capture with my Triceratops self. I'm delighted to know you are using it as a reference.

Yup, sort of like something you'd see in a Miyazaki film. I'm not fully into the Steampunk theme myself but I do like certain elements of it and so my Triceratops self lives in such a world. I like the sense of adventure it brings, as well as both the activity implied by the complicated engines and quasi-Goldberg machines, and the blue-collar heroism it inspires.
Why does the high-tech appeal to you?

Ah I understand, very cool
I love high-tech because such trivial issues and problems from present day do nkt exist anymore (like ethnic crap), I enjoy sci-fi as a whole; I geew up with sci-fi.
I enjoy the thought of exploration and meeting exotic creatures of wild imagination. Technology can take zany and interesting turns, have very beautiful and interesting designs as well. It also has a sense of adventure, and a lot of danger -you never know what is around the corner.
As Captain Katherine Janeway said,
"Weird, is part of the job!"

Those all sound like pretty good reasons to me!
I know when I write stories I do try to make sure folks know that the world there has challenges to overcome too, I just make sure they aren't the same ones we are dealing with; I always thought that was boring myself.

Exactly! They aren't humans in dino suits! They will need points in common so that we can better understand them, but there should be tangible differences. With my horns and frill certainly clothing styles are going to be different, but what functions do they serve? There would be more than one, but what are they and how are they both similar and yet distinct from our own? Lots of interesting challenges and fun things to think about!

You bet we are! And this is still one of my all time favorites even if my scales are the wrong color; it was just too awesome to complain about! Thank you very much for commenting on this one! I hope to have many more of my Steampunk Triceratops self in the years ahead.

Id like to see that and your very welcome. If you want a game thats steampunk Bioshock would be a good fit the first one and Bioshock infinite are two of my favorite games of all time. It's rated M so I understand not wanting to play it around your kid. I like your phrase at the bottom Dominus Tecum god be with you. I am not going to lie i am not a religious person my family is but it just didn't work for me after a while, ill spare you the details its a long and rough story. But the sentiment behind those words is very kind and as long as it makes you happy and you don't use it to harm others in any way i think its a good thing. Faith has inspired a lot of people like many artists like Leonardo Da Vinci with the last supper and Michelangelo and the Sistine chapel. And the beautiful mausoleums in Europe and stain glass windows were christian. One of the most popular books/movies the lord of the rings was influenced by christianity. It's all how people use it. If it's a guiding light for you and your family i say that's a good thing use that light to inspire yourselves and others even if people don't follow your beliefs. I wish you and your family the best.
I know of Bioshock but I've never played it, but thank you for the recommendation!
One of the things that draws me to faith is the truth, unity and beauty therein. It calls us to be better than ourselves, and while many have failed there, it still calls us (and if we aren't trying to be better, then what are we doing?). And yes, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and many others have turned that lived faith into masterworks of art. Go into any Medieval/Renaissance Cathedral and you will have your breath taken away at the generations of sacrifice and devotion that went into building it and maintaining it.

P.S. I like the birds perched on you. I like birds not my favorite animals but they are pretty neat. The only ones i don't like are the Redwing black birds that attack anyone and anything within an 100 ft radius of their nest. Ive had one attack my head while walking to work even though i wasn't even going towards the nest. Say what you want birds don't mess around they don't care about size they will mess you up!
