So long and thanks for all the fish!
Today, sadly was
OldTiger's last day as a commercial airline pilot. Seems the FAA deemed him too old to fly the 'heavies' as a pilot. Naturally he thinks this is utter bullshit and good for a few more years. But the FAA rules the skies. And FedEx loses a great pilot...not by choice.
Poor cat, what the hell he gonna do now?
All in fun Colonal. DON'T SHOOT ME!!

Yeah, my previous employer said my job was being eliminated and walked me out the door on Friday afternoon. Monday morning they had two new Asian faces doing my 'eliminated' job. They haven't been able to keep the positions filled in 2-1/2 years.
Did I mention I was 59 when this happened?

I have a number of friend that are heavy pilots and right when they hit 61 they were shoved out the door.
One of them clued me in on the 737 Max issues about a year ago, when the MCAS system was still new. The sad part, he said it was going to take a couple of crashes before Boeing would correct the known problems with the system. This was about the same time he was retired... He liked flying the 737 too

I worked at Boeing Everett plant for a while, some of the peoples attitudes and work ethics were lacking... For the most part I will say Boeing puts out a good product in spite of it in the west coast plants. In the east coast plant... I have heard some things that bother me. One of the Boeing MEs I know took 'early' retirement to save himself from killing someone when he would go to South Carolina plant.
Time to put your hands to work and build something... Try an airplane.
I'm crazy enough to build my own design A friend is checking my numbers for me. It looks like it will have a Vc of 92 knots on 65 hp Stall of 35 kts and Stall with flaps 25 kts. It will also sleep two people inside if needed.

Why get a kit... go plans built. I can see you enjoying being an instructor. Dad was my instructor in 88Pop when he wanted me to try my hand on floats... At 15,000 plus hours flying floats I think he knew a bit. He also worked with my flight instructor to get him his float rating.
