[Animation-WIP] Ciacyl - Crecent Kick
I posted this around in some Discord groups and on Twitter a while ago, but I figured I'd start trying to occasionally post some WIP/progress updates here also.
This is going to be something of an important move for him, with various effects depending on when and where the attack hits during the active frames, either knocking up for a potential juggle follow up or just blowing foes back and far.
Various details are still missing from many frames, mainly the tail and scarf are missing from a bunch of frames, and various parts are still in rough solids or even dummied, which is a habit I'm gettin out of. The transition over to Aseprite has been quite a good thing for me. Reworking how I approach my animations, not relying on layers anymore ended up getting me to tap into some new potential. I've gotten considerably faster and cleaner with my work, and spend a lot less time cleaning my work after all the layer hassle I used to do in Fieworks. From this, I've ended up pushing my frame rate and counts a bit higher for smoother work. I'm generally happy with my progress in terms of the work creating this stuff.
I figured I'd share these WIPs here and there to show my workflow and skill progress.
Note: I've been asked in a discord if I rotoscope 3D models for these. No I don't. I actually donno how to 3D, which is something I'd like to learn at some point, I just haven't had the time with everything else going on. I don't rotoscope anything really. I do occasionally study reference material for some key-frame posing to help me get the basics on point, but that's about it. It's all drawn from scratch.
