That has always been a theme with Jakkal's comics over the years. With her characters often growing and developing through hardships. Leading a more real down to earth story telling, since you know things are not going to go well for her characters but they will pull through stronger then ever.
However I doubt that she will top the suffering Lorelei endured through Black Tapestries. Especially her getting skinned alive and being prevented from dying due to her immortality while her skin/fur slowly regrew.
