Bowser and his mostly blank-slate litter of oh-so-stompable not-children.
I did all of these in a row, and the quality seems to jump and dip throughout. Compare, say, Morton, Roy, or Jr. to Iggy(oh god, Iggy. I'm sorry veg-head)...I really wish I'd finally learn to draw Bowsy consistantly, too.

I'd like to know where you found these personalities. I've still yet to see them do anything other than wait at the end of certain levels solely for me to jump on three times and move on. Other than that, the only redeeming quality they seem to have is that they're Bowser's kids.
You happened to pick out my two favorites of the bunch. I'm not sure if that means anything, but I just wanted to point that out.

Zachery, my good man... It seems some Yoshi's Safari is in order! Each mech the koopa kids pilot says much about their tastes!
Really, people have scraped together personalities for the koopalings based on what worlds they tend to occupy [Wendy being a sucker for having the beach all to herself so she can tan and such or Lemmy liking icy places to practice balancing on his ball, which he keeps at his side like Linus of the peanuts keeps his blanket] and their fighting styles [such as Larry's Tennis Racket from M&L or Morton's introduction of the ground shaking jumps in both SMW and SMB3, suggesting maybe he has his dad's same taste in food?] as well their namesakes and some of the flavor text from Super Mario World, such as Ludwig Von Koopa being a composer in his spare time...
... That, and there's the cartoon show personalities that people sometimes follow, but I can't imagine those are what one would look for for official personalities of these characters. Regardless, it's good to see them back in a main game and not a Mario and Luigi cameo, and the chance for them to be used in more Mario RPGs is there where they have a chance to be better defined.

Well, I did notice Ludwig seems to have something of an emogoth/valley/surfer accent(it's hard to tell, considering I'm just going by how he says "Oh" when he jumps around the world map). Then again, I really don't need much of a personality to get behind a character; that's why I stick with Mario over his decidedly more developed brother.
I only take flavor text as far as can be. I think it was mostly just localization having fun referencing namesakes and whatnot, bordering on writing fanfiction. If I remember right, they didn't even have names until SMB3 got localized. I suppose you could always follow the goofy manga...

There is that as well... but yes, It's quite amazing how Mario's Blank slate and go-to guy kind of personality fits so well for being the lead for a game like these; He has many qualities of the JRPG hero, but with a bit of a twist of them usually getting the love of the leading lady.
It's because of this that Mario, in spite of being so familiar is at the same time an enigma. I've always thought of him as an optimistic chum that believes that someone has to do some of the unpleasant things in life for others get by. He tries to do a little of everything to try and please people, which is why he takes on so many unpleasant jobs like plumbing, rescuing peach, curing deadly plagues, and participating in power-up laden sports to entertain the masses. I always have pictured Mario to be the type of guy who just needs to come home to a nice and hot meal, a soft bead, and the reassurance that he puts smiles on so many people's faces in need of such cheering up from the duldroms of having a near-constantly aggressive neighboring country attempt all sorts of hostile takeover repeatedly...
... This being said, I kinda have trouble sympathizing with those who see Mario as a man who hides his greed under sugary sweetness and consider him a murderous lecher who is a communist druggie.
In the end, neither idea is correct, nor does Miyamoto WANT either to be correct. Even in places like the Legend of Zelda, which is a game heavy on storytelling, there are still horrible gaps left for the player to fill in, and I think that's what he wants moreso out of the Mario player, so that it alienates nobody since things aren't skewed one way or another. Some think this to be bred of laziness, but I think once again that Nintendo has found the method to play to nearly all common denominators.
... sorry for talking your ear off. XD

I somehow feel this is a false statement. Everyone draws Wendy due to the Smurfette principal, and thus there is "more than enough" Wendy to go around. She totally gets exponentially more love than she deserves. I'd say she doesn't do too bad for a fish-faced blank-slate knock-off could-be-anyone-else-and-not-effect-canon emotionless-stump.
Course, if you said something like "needs more Boom-Boom", I'd be more inclined to agree.

I give you drastic hairstyle change, and the height difference is just more pronounced. Iggy's always been a tad mor vertically oriented, almost in the same way Luigi is from Mario. But other than that, I don't see him being much different than he's been in the past.
Only with sprites. Lemmy's always been the shortest, despite his age. The ball is supposedly to make up for that lack of height. At least, that's what I've assumed. Wendy and Lemmy have always had more in common than Lemmy and Iggy have.
Yes, Iggy's new personality is that he's Dan Hibiki...or some other character that does the ass-slap taunt.
