An irony about Ares is that he is commonly referred to the god of war but actually in Ancient Greece the true god of war was Athena (actually,a goddess of course) and by war we are talking about the strategy in battle, the respect for the opponents,... basically that side of war that woudl have been considered honorable.
Ares on the other hand was actually an ill-fated god for mortals; he was a sort of "savage god of destruction" who thrilled into the death and desperation of mortals on the battlefield.
And I think in this pic you really captured his true essence!
