As I 1) am not terribly confident, 2) hate making art that's covered in pencil smudges, and 3) using watercolors at the con (which makes 2 even worse), I basically draw all my commissions out on cheap scrap paper before actually putting it on the important stuff :P

Also, my brain is picky about knowing how something is structured before actually drawing it... I have fun trying to get the various animals/breeds looking somewhat recognizable... so I do these as little studies to get myself in the mode for a particular animal.

I'm guessing as I do this more these will be necessary but, for now, here's part of my process

apology for shitty scan quality... I sketch lightly and the scanner barely picks it up
