Current state of the present Comic (MUST READ PLEASE)
Tonight, I was planning to post the pick of the Warrior Beast Babul, however, I decided to post this picture instead as I want to make an announcement.
These designs of Kat and Felicio were made back in November: they are based on the design of the two tickle pics that were made back in October 2017 (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/25227942/ and http://www.furaffinity.net/view/25257950/), and they had stuck with me since – though here as you can see, Felicio is Black with white and blonde hair and Kat retains her red hair, but is now clearer with some spots, with a more fluffy tail (rather than the long slim one). There are 3 other characters sharing the longer version of this pic, but I won't show them just yet. However, I will say that the other hint of the motives behind of what I will say you saw a tiny hint of it in the Chapter 3 Cover and in the latest Pg.
For sometime now, I felt heavily displease with the current result, and for sometime, I'd been in denial on this, but I have come to the conclusion the Reboot Cats has deviated a lot from its source material (i.e. mishaps and misadventures from which the name "The Cats 9 Lives" comes from), this conclusion got a bit more clearer during the hiatus period between Chapters 2 and 3, when I was trying to complete Donna 4 and Map of Discourse, as well the Hiatus I took during the Christmas-Post New Year period to take a break.
While I wanted to take one more week to think it over, I have decided that after a year of working on the Cats Reboot, I'm both stuck (the most prolong block I have suffered in years) and have lost all interest for this version of the Cats. So by all terms and purposes, I consider this comic a fail and will be scrap. Here's the really shitty part: if I cancelled the reboot, then the two other comics, the Leon/Chelsea Stories and Phantom Pack die with it, as these stories were interconnected (Leon and Chelsea serving of a indirect prequel, while Phantom Pack spawns from actions that would have happened in Chapters 3 and 4. I had thought of salvaging the Leon/Chelsea, but in someways, its one of the major culprits that is forcing to make this decision.
In many ways, Leon and Chelsea have taken the roles and characteristics of Felicio and Kat – Leon been the reasonable yet unlucky to deal with the nonsense of his partner (like Felicio) and Chelsea becoming daring devious and chaotic (like Kat). This has robbed the personalities from the main cats.
Also, the way the comic is proceeding is becoming a saga and of all things, this is something I'm want to avoid. As express in my previous point, The Cats at its heart is mishaps and misadventures, with a comedic element to it, and turning this is into a crime/adventure story. Ronfar gets relegated to something of a secondary antagonist, while putting the Mozarts as principle. Now, I'm not saying their can't be a story line, but we're 2 chapters in, barely beginning the 3rd and just starting to draw the 4rth one, and I don't think I'm no where near concluding what would be describe the 1rsr act, and if some of you remember, this was the exact same reason why I cancelled Just Bugging Around years ago – it started to get way too long. The first 3 chapters add a total of 130 pgs (41, 35 and 54), and now I'm developing fatigue.
Now you would think this would be odd, to develop fatigue for a comic that only has one year running, but I want to remind, this idea has been in development since 2015 and during the run of the Cats6 – that comic ran from 2016-17 – and during that time, I made two failed attempts of the Reboot before picking the current idea, but before I could start running it Hurricane Maria hit, which left out of action for 32 days, with tons of works put behind schedule. What was left of 2017 and the whole of 2018 was just working on trying to get back on track, something that was achieved when I did those 31 pics for October of 2018. In the overall three years of work, this what has lead to 3 full chapters that make together 130 pgs. This period of over work, plus the fact I'd been working on Leon/Chelsea and Phantom Pack (a comic whose 2nd chapter I had not gone to work upon YET) and Donna4 has been the longest most extensive period of fatigue of my life, and now, I'm just drain of ideas and the story is now getting cluttered and scrambled in my mind - I really can not think of working forward and have lost all interest. I hadn't even come close two do other ones (The Donna Reboot,Terradix and Orion), and the current Cats story could go for another year and half before its concluded, and that's the first arc alone.
Because of this, I have for the past 5 months been really looking at the small tease you are seeing right now, and since Wednesday, I'd began to write a script based on this to collect my thoughts. For now, while I work on this script, The Cats will probably go at best through much of year of on a Comic Hiatus while I work on this new iteration, the story arcs of the present iteration will be removed. I will be continue posting art and strips.
