♪ Flowers in his hair, flowers everywhere~ ♪
Mister Syx is such a lovely old gentleman ♥.... I can sympathize with his desire to just get away from everything and live a peaceful, solitary life. His condition almost necessitates it. Despite the trepidation others show him, though, he retains an unfailingly kind disposition. And even though he is self-conscious and sometimes doubts himself, he has an impressively strong will under the surface. His body may be toxic, but his heart is so pure~ That reminds me of "Rappaccini's Daughter"... (Though, Syx's story ends more happily than that one, fortunately.) Anyway, he is very dear. It isn't a way that I would usually describe a man, but with his captivating vitality, Syxoviletos is one man whom I feel it is appropriate to call... a beautiful flower.
(I realize that his miasma would probably wilt all the flowers in seconds, but.... let's just let him have this moment, at least.)
A special portrait that I wanted to make in time for the 2-year anniversary of The Tenth Line's release. And, mm, today's also St. Patrick's Day.... well, Syx is a green dracon and all. U-um..... justice for the snakes!! (I-it's a reference to events in the game. Don't pay it any mind.)

For real!
And it seems as if, by the end of the game, Syx is surrounded by a lot of love, indeed. Suffice to say that I enjoyed that quite a bit, among other things.
I dare say that it speaks well of the developer Mr. Mahan's characterization that I liked, or at least appreciated, most of the game's characters. Even the major antagonists, despite not getting as much development, felt compelling even though they did terrible things. (The minor antagonists, on the other hand.... well, I suppose in a way they reveal the banality of evil.) As likeable as all of the characters are, Syx's warmth and sincerity offered great encouragement. It certainly helps that he plays so well off of the tritagonists.

Yeah, I played through the game mostly for the characters and their narrative. The gameplay didn't hook me as much.
Syx in particular is just perfect. He's so shy and considerate while at the same time being physically repulsive, and I don't know why, but that makes him perfect woobie material.
I'm glad he got a happy ending, considering what happened to some of the other characters.
