This may have been Rocket's eleventh parade appearance in the local St Patrick's Day Parade. The weather was cool, dry, and sunny. Lots of media coverage, and dogs to bark at. We were position H in the lineup. Parade started at 1400 and for us it was over about a half-hour later.
A motorized unit was ahead of us and the cadets kept trying to keep up with it--a recurring issue. I call it "Double-Quick Time". It's a parade and not a marathon folks. Besides, the actual road race--with local runners and walkers--was at noon. We want the folks along the parade route to be able to read that banner being displayed at the front.
I took my grand old time trotting into town. The new tail took some time to familiarize and it took a bit of effort to get it oriented properly. It also took some effort to get the attention of various dogs along the way.
Rocket was photographed numerous times and was stopped several times for hugs and high-fives. The Michigan State Police bicycle unit was also impressed.
There were a few minor issues with Rocket though. In the rush to grab fursuit parts and load up to get into position, the RAF style chrome goggles often worn with the full suit were left behind. There was also a "blow-out" in the left furboot as the sole had become partially detached and hanging by the toes. So we flip-flopped along for the last half-mile or so. The show must go on you known.
