Hmm... that's sounds fairly possible. Cooper could go running to Fletcher to b*tch him out for not paying him... and since Fletcher already has stated he wouldn't mind having an arrangement similar to Emery and Andy's, Fletcher might offer Coop free room and board to "make up for things"... and maybe hope to win the younger dog over to reap a few extra "benefits"...
man..
..i really am piqued by the possibility of those two scoundrels hooking up!
but a new conflict arises thus!
because i wanna see them both be the bottom.
maybe pooper and fletcher can duke it out or somethin'
or!
they can have a 6-9 contest — whoever cums first has to give up his ass. . . . .first
(extra points given for strategically diddling the other furson's hole while sucking off)
the actual reality is more likely to play out differently, though — isn't it?
it might be sporting of fletcher to give the young wolf his cubbyhole, as partial remuneration for the inconvenience of cooper losing his home..
..on the other hand, cooper could have rejected this internship as soon as he learned of its terms & conditions.
no one'd put a gun to cooper's head
we shall see!

Yes, Cooper should have passed on the job... but then again, earlier in the comic, he was suggested by some radio hosts to "try something new" as part of coping with his current problems. Maybe Cooper saw it as an opportunity to do just that. Plus, Jackaloo has more or less confirmed that Coop is "stoopid." xD And this isn't the first time he's made a bad decision.
But either way, right now he needs a place to stay. He mostly *won't* go to Andy... will he have the nerve to ask Chelsea to help him? Probably, probably not.... there was that one guy from "Summer's Gone" that Cooper could probably ask to stay with (provided said guy doesn't already have a roommate or something). Fletcher's a possible candidate... as is River. Just gotta wait and see!

I'd argue he actually has more sympathetic qualities than someone like Chelsea or Andy. Both of them know what they are, and have for a long time. As far as we know, neither had an abusive father or absent mother*. He's trying to figure out what he is at a critical juncture in life—career, money, housing situation, relationship, orientation, and his own attitudes and residual upbringing are all up in the air, several of them in the danger area.
He's struggling through a lot of crap, but he's making the effort to try to improve himself. I think his situation is very sympathetic.
As someone who had an upbringing that drilled into his head a bunch of falsehoods, superstitions, prejudices, as well as having endured emotional abuse, I know how hard overcoming that level of brainwashing can be. We already know he's dealing with anxiety. Maybe he's also dealing with depression. Both of those things make life harder on their own, but make it a bitch when combined.
* I think she was absent. I'll be damned if I remember at this point.
This isn't meant to attack your point of view, just provide a counter-point for the sake of playing devil's advocate.

Struggling with your sexuality doesn’t give you a free pass to act like a total selfish asshole towards everyone around you. I may understand why he is the way he is but that doesn’t mean I can condone the way he conducts himself. A proper series antagonist has relatable struggles as well.
Having empathy for him doesn't mean condoning his actions.
As far as the "relatable struggles" bit goes, he might not have difficulties that you can relate to, but many readers of the comic may find him very relatable. People who are struggling to change and not be like Cooper has thus far. All the people that are just brow-beating the s**t out of Cooper at every turn are either failing to realize, or just don't care that their words may be negatively impacting real people who share Cooper's struggles and honestly want to change.
Yes, he's done bad things, but the people who are saying "once an assh**e, always an assh**e"—which it kinda seems you're saying—are doing no-one any favors. Try to imagine being one of the other readers, seeing elements of Cooper that resonate with you or your own upbringing, and then reading other's comments that indirectly say to them that they're a "useless piece of trash that'll never change, so why bother". Not terribly encouraging, is it?

I’m not saying “once an asshole always an asshole“ that would suggest that he only did one or two bad things in the past. Cooper has continuously done terrible things time and time again, almost every time he’s on page. He shows no signs of getting better and continues to behave the way he does. The dude is a straight up asshole and I don’t think he deserves any sort of happiness unless he changes himself drastically. Bad people can have relatable issues. And just because his issues are relatable, that doesn’t make him a good person.
Oh shit, Coop... I feel so bad for him. He's trying really hard to fix all of his other problems, and then another one gets stacked up on the list.
MY PREDICTIONS: Cooper is going to need a friend's couch to crash on. He's NOT going to go back to Andy, because he's still not secure in his sexuality. Instead he's going to go to Chelsea. They're going to talk about what happened at the party. This will be the point where Chelsea realizes that Andy and Cooper weren't cheating on her behind her back. This will start making the way for rebuilding her friendship with Andy.

That... all sounds quite plausible, actually. Maybe even probable.
I just hope him living, even briefly, with Chelsea doesn't end up with them back together. Cooper needs a man, and he needs one his own age or just slightly older (10 years at most). Andy's cute, but he's also kind of a jackass, and he's probably better off with Old Spice... not that 43 is anywhere near as old as Emery looks, but I digress.
