Rodent loves the Autumn season. The cool, crisp air. The bright, vibrant colors. The piles of leaves that are fun to dive into.
Unfortunately, it seems as if evolution has once again taken advantage of this situation and turned seemingly innocent piles of leaves into hungry predators.
So, when playful rats such as Rodent leap towards one in fun and excitement, they are instead met by the sudden appearance of a hungry maw. And so, another rat vanishes from the world. ;)
My thanks to Vashy for taking this commission and doing such a wonderful job. I love the way the monster turned out. From the leafy body to the root-like tongue and the hungry maw. She also did a wonderful job with the perspective, showing Rodent leaping forward, only to realize too late that this isn't just another harmless pile of leaves to play in. :)

Heh. Yeah. While I wasn't thinking about Calvin and Hobbes when the idea for this commission came up, I'm sure that comic has been an influence on my love for any type of inanimate objects coming to life and being predatorial; when that be books, furniture, appliances, vehicles, or piles of leaves. :)
