Following Slate's wrongful banishment from the realm his kin exiled themselves to, he spent years wandering the forests and plains (present day Europe). After a while, Slate began to hear rumors and myths of a great and powerful swordsman that also traversed these lands. However, it wasn't the rumor of skill and power that piqued Slate's interest, but rather the fact that most of these rumors stated that it was a warrior of draconic ancestry. Slate longed for the company of another dragon ever since the day of his banishment.
It took years for Slate to finally track this warrior down, following little more than rumor and second hand accounts. In the nearby woods, Slate would find this draconic warrior of great skill and power...
Now, one can only speculate as to what happened in those woods that day. Many versions of the same myth arose in the months following. Many versions of the myth say Slate attacked this warrior, but yielded his blade before the fight could escalate. The reasons for this are unknown, perhaps he was testing the warrior's skill, perhaps it was because he realized this warrior was a female dragon, or perhaps it was because he didn't want to ruin would could be a potential friendship, though most think it was a combination of the three. Some say that after the fight, the two warriors began to entertain each other with stories of past adventures, and the places that it took them to...
But in the end, only those two draconic warriors know what happened that day. Though it is agreed by all what happened next... They went their separate ways, to fulfill their own destiny. However, that isn't to say their paths never crossed again, but that is a story for another time...

Gift art for
ilkarin, of our characters meeting during their travels. Keep in mind, this is still fairly early in Slate's life (relatively speaking), therefor he still has his wings, but not the energy markings.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. Still working on backgrounds, and poses, and I tried drawing fire. It looked better earlier, but a bunch of tweaking the colors near (and over) it made it look a bit 'meh'.

That looks wicked cool :D The back ground is so haunting and so peaceful at the same time. I actually love using environments like this for my Halen oriented stories. Really dig the way you drew yourself and Ilkarin as well. It's really cool and relaxed, almost ironically so, since the background, to me, feels so creepy. Awesomely done :D! I'd love to see some more work like this, with the darkness and such.
