So ... It's official. I can't help but fall in love with Paw Patrol! ^^; It's such an amazingly cute and wholesome show! It goes without saying that Marshall is my favorite of the Pups. I do enjoy the others for sure, but he's super awesome in particular because he's the funny one, has such an incredibly huge heart, and in addition to being the firehouse dog he's also the medic/EMT (I come from a long line of family who work in the medical field which i'm super proud of). So it's no wonder I love him so much! XD
In the actual show, there is an episode called "Pups Save Tiny Marshall". Naturally, Marshall gets shrunk to the size of an ant in a dream that he has. By the end of the episode, he is restored to normal size before waking up. I saw this and thought, "How cool would this be if they continued this just a bit longer and he accidentally (due to the machine malfunctioning) grew to giant size?" I also took the liberty to add my character Jacob in the story as well. I've imagined for awhile how Jacob would function in the Paw Patrol universe.
Jacob is a couple years older than Ryder (the Paw Patrol's leader). Like Ryder, he is kind, friendly, and very intelligent. Since birth, he has often struggled with muscle weakness in his legs due to constant pressure and stress related to his lumbar (lower) spine. He is able to walk, but not without some difficulty. He is able to support himself with crutches that he designed himself and has mastered doing so like an art form. While not a pup himself, he was made an honorary member of the Paw Patrol by Ryder for his knowledge and skill with machinery and technology, and has since been treated like family by the whole team. Jacob has great love and respect for the pups, and they do for him as well, even before he was inducted into the Paw Patrol. Despite his disability, he will do all that he can to help his newfound family.
The story begins at the end of the actual episode. Marshall, due to the shrink ray malfunctioning randomly, grows to giant size (at about 30 feet tall). Everyone is surprised at Marshall's newfound size. Naturally, Marshall is afraid that he might cause damage and/or hurt someone accidentally. Remaining calm, Ryder and Rocky begin work on repairing the shrink ray. They're about to finish work on the device when they realize they might need a third person to help check their work before testing out the machine. Everyone's thoughts turn immediately to Jacob. Marshall happens to know exactly where Jacob is at this particular time and volunteers to find and bring him back to the lookout. Initially, Ryder is hesitant to let Marshall look for Jacob given his newfound size. Marshall however, promises to be very careful on his way to and from and Ryder allows him to search for their friend. While walking slowly but surely, Marshall keeps a constant and watchful eye out for his surroundings. He immediately finds Jacob taking a nap on the beach area under a shady palm tree. Upon closer inspection, Marshall sees Jacob in a very sound and deep sleep.
Here is a small passage of this particular scene that i've thought about:
"There he is!" Marshall exclaimed excitedly as he walked gently over to where Jacob was sleeping. He stopped right in front of his tiny looking friend and admired him sleeping for a few minutes. A warm smile spread across the firehouse pups face as he watched Jacob sleep peacefully. "Aw. Look at him." Marshall thought to himself as he felt a warm and fuzzy feeling spread throughout his heart. "He doesn't even have a care in the world right now. But ... How exactly can I wake him up?" he wondered. He felt absolutely terrible that he would have to wake Jacob from slumber, however he knew full well that it was the only way he would eventually find himself back at normal size. Marshall gently sat down in front of Jacob and began to think of how to proceed.
In the first place, Marshall knew that it was incredibly rude to scare or frighten someone out of sleep. The last thing he would ever want for Jacob was to be startled and frightened. If Marshall was to be truly honest with himself, his heart would break at the very thought of such an unspeakable act such as that. He would never be able to forgive himself for doing that to anyone, especially Jacob. "Maybe I could tickle him awake?" he thought to himself with a chuckle. "That might work!" As soon as the thought came to him however, Marshall realized that might not be the best course of action simply because Jacob might not feel the tickling sensation due to how deep in sleep he was. A few more moments passed as he continued to think of a way he could cox Jacob gently out of his deep slumber.
Suddenly, a light bulb came on in Marshall's head. He gasped in excitement as the idea came to him like a wave. "I know what i'll do!" he said excitedly aloud. He proceeded to bend down as close to Jacob's ear as he possibly could. Marshall then whispered into his tiny friends ear in a gentle sing song kind of way. Though he was clearly whispering, because of his size, Marshall's voice had a bit of a small booming echo when he spoke normally. Speaking at a whisper however, it sounded as if his voice were normal size instead of an actual whisper. "Jaaaaayyyyyycob. Oh Jaaaaayyyyyyyycob. Wake up Jacob. It's time to get up now." He pulled back for a moment and waited to see if Jacob would begin to gently stir out of sleep.
