'Gaaaaaame ooooover!' sang the game as Ashley rolled her eyes. Two notes. Two friggin' notes and she would've had it. Keys could be an effective tease when he wanted to be, but this Technic Beat game was less 'tease' and more 'punishment'. Rhythmic, endearing punishment, yes, but infuriating nonetheless. She flicked the system off, rising from her seat to look for the remote.
*Remote, remote, where aaare youuu...* she tapped a foot, the last song still stuck in her head. Static snapped at her socks as the tiniest of sparks danced over her senses. She bit her lip; she hadn't changed in weeks, and even the tiny reminder still got her imagination going. She stooped to pick up the remote, sighing as she clicked the TV off. No, not today. She still needed to get the mail, go grocery shopping, get *stuff* done, be *responsible*...
The front door shut behind her as she plodded out to the apartment mailbox, pausing to tap out specific beats with her toes. *Bum BOM...ba bom BUM BOMMMM...* Her fingers fumbled over the mailbox keys.
*Plip*.
She paused. "Oh."
*Plip plip plip...*
Her eyes trailed skyward. In six hours of rhythm gaming, she had forgotten about the weather. The fluffy white clouds from earlier had turned dark and threatening, and the rain was already soaking her shirt. Her breath hitched as thunder rumbled in the distance. *Uh oh*.
She yanked open the mailbox, grabbed the fistful of flyers and bills, then turned to sprint back to her apartment, heart pounding. Already, her breathing was picking up, and though she had no mirror to check, she could feel the glistening in her cheeks as the pale shade of yellow began to appear. She reached the door and slammed it shut behind her, panting noisily as she let the fistful of mail drop to the floor. Her fingers gripped the doorknob, the conductivity causing her to squeeze her eyes shut. The drumbeat of rain reverbereated in her mind. Thouugh she dared not look, she could feel the fingers already shifting - the texture thickening, turning waxy as bronzed gloss teased the fingertips, fading into softer orange as it rippled over her wrists.
'HaaHhh...' There was a nervous swallow as the next peal of thunder rumbled in the distance. Already, her opposite arm was wrapped around her belly, fingers squeaking noisily as the digits splayed across the rubber already coating her stomach. Her breaths came unesteadily, her head bobbing as she fought to keep her composure. The form *could* be kept in check, so long as she maintained some sense of decorum. Better to keep her breaths even, her pose steady, even though her stance was already adjusting as her toes swelled, straining the confines of her shoes. One eye opened to look down, following as the leather distorted, forced tight around the bulbous toes. She gulped as her composure slipped - 'H-hh*AII*!" A yelp of Pokespeak erupting as bronzed toes erupted from the confines of the opposite shoe, static tickling her senses as her cheeks burned hotly, sparks erupting from the brightened yellow spots. Her fingers left the doorknob to clutch around her stomach even as the sensation of tightening shirt against her glossy skin grew more intense.
Damnit, if this form didn't feel so *good* to turn into. She hunched over, eyes unable to look away as the paws continued to form. The pop-pop-POP of her socks tearing open was joined by the SNAP of shoelaces ripping apart, each level of laced eye tearing open as the joints pulled up up *up* into an arched stance. Her left paw had outpaced the right, bronze-and-orange skin kept barely hidden by fragments of disintegrating footwear. Ashley's voice warped between incoherent gasping and Pokespeak even as her height inched upwards, her shirt beginning to join the fate of her lower half. 'Got *chu* stop', she gasped, well aware that she was unable to. "Got c-ch-chHUUUUU!" A longer groan as the snap of fibers was joined by the abrupt creak of stretching joints, both paws now arched as they bulged thicker, carrying her another several inches upward. She wobbled as her body squeaked noisily against the door, her tailbone shifting abruptly as she quaked with unwanted delight.
*BOOOMbrunbumbumbum*...Again, the thunder roiled in the distance. Ashley stumbled, nearly toppling on still-stretching footpaws as she made for the couch. The ambient energy of the room called to her; the lamp's bulb shuddering as it flickered, her ears following suit as the edges began to tug. Her fingers creased noisily as she gripped at the edge of the couch, awkwardly tumbling over in a heap. Her eyes pinched shut as her fingers wandered down her sides - *yeep*! - yes, her skin was almost completely changed over, and the tail was now beginning to slide its way down the already-tight confines of her jeans. She quivered in place as her fingers felt along the tightened outline of her growing tail. 'HAah..." The long exhalation was joined by a surge as the power-cord appendage slithered past her knees, forcing her legs straight as the denim cracked, the seams protesting noisily. The change would have been sensual if not for the constant twinge of oncoming panic. Her eyes flicked from one flickering bulb to the next, then closed outright as she groaned at the sight of the TV having come back on of it's own accord. '*Rai*'ve gotta...gotta..."
A static tingle ran down her spine as she felt a twinge in the air. *Oh no*.
There it was; the flash as the entire sky lit up all at once, daytime briefly shining bright as the stroke of lightning came crashing down a few miles away. Her lead lolled back as she felt the bolt of crackling delight hit her. 'R-AAAIIIIII!!" Her jaw shifted as lightning arced from her cheeks and raced down her form as the jeans split noisily, the seams giving up the fight as glossy orange skin spilled free. The *POP* of the nearby bulbs bursting was joined by the crack of shifting muzzle as her ears tugged fully free, the footpaws shoved into the far side of the couch so hard that she was catapulted backwards, awkwardly hanging halfway over the couch's edge as her tail ruptured what was left of the jeans, the threads tearing free as the corded tail flattened upon the tip. The room's ambient energy coursed through her as she tail's edge glowed brighter by the moment, forking abruptly into the familiar lightning's shape as her shirt burst open, her glistening fingers grabbing onto what scraps she could to keep herself decent. Another rush, and she gulped for breath. 'A-AAIIIII! *RAI*'M...*RAI*'M...g-OnNAA...."
Her control slipped. The surge of paw growth sent her off the couch and into a sprawled heap as her tail lanced across the room, crashing into the far wall as the lightning bolt raised of its own accord. Her fingers curled tightly as her mouth drew wide in a pleasured shriek, the tailtip glowing brighter until it burst - a surge of electricity smashing into the walls as the TV blew up, the nearby walls crackling with the smell of burnt plaster as her snout drew further free, the fragments of her shirt lost in the next growth spurt. Her tail coiled in great loops, the constant *pop-POP-SCrEeeAAAAAK* as it lengthened faster and further joined by the loud panting 'r-AAI-c-CHHUUU...!!"
Only after several minutes did she finally stop growing, her coffee table upended and laying halfway over her chest, the easy chair having been flung into the kitchen by an accidental tail-swipe. Ashley hesitantly opened one eye, glancing across the wreckage of her living room and flinching. One footpaw alone lay some twelve feet away from her head, and stretched...well, it was definitely bigger than the smashed TV by now. *Yikes*. She clenched her fingers together, feeling the *squeak* as rubber slid against rubber.
"...Rai better call Keys for damage chutrol..." She sighed, turning over - and barely lunging in time to catch her tailtip before it lodged itself into the wall.

OMG You are the best for saying so! thank you so much. If you really enjoyed this one, please check out http://tgrub.buzzsprout.com for my regular podcast, The Group of Rather Unusual Blokes!
WOW this is REALLY GOOD
As a fellow audio producer, I always love to see people improving and evolving the artform, and this kind of 'Audiobook+radioplay' hybrid method is super interesting and unique! You matched the cadence of the story super well, the SFX were perfectly placed and leveled and that was generally just wonderful!
Also as a bit of a tail guy myself I appreciated those bits...
