I got mad at trying to draw a circle so I threw away the entire sketch layer and decided to use color to create shapes and then trim them. It worked really well and it seems I have a much better sense of proportions working this way. I always imagined my fennec fox character to be shorter and stockier and he balanced out really well. The piece also just looks cleaner, so this might just be my new style for drawing future pieces.
The eagle character turned out well too, but if I revisit him I may edit the body colors. Eagles sometime prey on foxes in real life, so I thought for this situation, it was an appropriate animal to pick. Golden eagles are also the national animal of Mexico, and the flag colors look good on him I think.

Hmm... I'm unsure who to root for. I want to root for the eagle, but I also like rooting for underdogs. It's really hard to choose. I could root for both but, that won't really help either of them. XD

Root for whoever you please. And that is a light at the top of the balcony, but mostly for the room in general. The main stage light (which was how I determined shadow + highlights) is directly above the ring, so in this case the shadow falls to the right. If I were more skilled, I'd have tried to make the light on the bodies more detailed, but that's what I went with.
