Though as a child, Riku took a shine to studying martial arts, its purpose shifted for him as he became a regular target for bullies in his late childhood and teens. After moving to the US, his social issues continued, and he vented his frustrations by focusing on his forms and participating in competitive cheerleading tournaments and martial arts competitions.
After his newfound master passed away, the boy was devastated, but resolved to push through the pain and focus on his art. Nearly one year later, he prepares to enter into a large-scale competition his master frequented but which often intimidated him, all in the hopes of making his mentor proud.
