I just wanted an excuse to draw a keyblade and Dax. I imagine that in a KH crossover, Jak would fall to the darkness PRETTY damn quickly because he's already kind of a heartless bastard, and Dax would be the guy to pick up the role of protector and find he could wield a keyblade or somethingorother and would have to go rescue his friend. Since that's already kinda what happens in the first two games anyways, two BFFs looking out for each other and kinda repaying each other for always saving each other's asses. :V
(Kingdom Hearts is like the only crossover I'll tolerate with anything, I dislike roughly 99.9% of all crossovers because they are so contrived and often have story universes with clashing lore or art direction or tone... but KH's existence revolves almost entirely around crossovers, so that makes it acceptable in my book.)

Aw thanks a bunch!
And yeah I'm just... I'm just picky about crossovers, haha. Like even some KH ones are real weird, but since they've done so many now, with live action movies, 2D and 3D animated films, and Final Fantasy, I'm like... sure why not, I can dig it. The more the merrier.

Your explanation for a crossover like this actually seems pretty plausible. Since Jak has been tainted by darkness already (the dark eco), he would be all Dark Jak Heartless and Daxter while not completely goody-two shoes, is still good after all so he'd be the perfect candidate to bring Jak back. Hearing this though, that's one of the things I didn't understand about Jak. Why he was so cold. I mean I get that he was upset that he got experimented on for 2 years(?) by the Baron but I thought it was kinda suckish how he took his attitude out on others around him. He did become a bit better in Jak X but it's too bad we didn't get at least 1 or 2 other main games under Naughty Dog to see his character develop.
Anyway, very nice, love the Keyblade you designed for Daxter

Hey thanks! I thought it was a cool idea too, haha.
As for why Jak is so cold, honestly there are plenty of reasons (not that any of them are justified or excuses, but just explanations):
1. he is a teenager, and those teenager hormones hit him pretty hard and at a pretty bad time
2. being mean and cold and detached is a coping mechanism that many people use to mitigate, ignore, or otherwise deal with pain
3. he learned pretty early on, in a terrible way, that the world is not a kind and forgiving place
4. he wasn't just experimented on, but was tortured in the process. in addition to being locked in a dark metal cell in a completely unknown location, there were 4 others who were also in the same program as him, and considering the equipment and cells were roughly in the same room, it's very likely he had to listen to their helpless screams every day for two years straight until they died.
5. possibly just having dark eco in him stresses him out and makes him cranky, since Daxter described his contact with it in the first game as "man that stung", it's very possible that it could actually be hurting him. And after getting blessed with light eco in the third game, Jak mentions that he actually feels better.
6. when he gets back with Keira, she has basically moved on and is eyeing Erol, that would put me in a pretty bad mood too
7. Torn really is just using him as an expendable weapon and treating him like shit (but then again Jak is just using Torn, so it's probably no skin off his back that they're just going to be shitty to each other)
8. Haven City is kind of a hard place to be happy in, in any respect whatsoever
9. He's a scared kid who wants to go home (after he gets his revenge)
10. He doesn't know how to deal with his emotions, like most people his age
11. His entire life is one big trauma
12. Would not be surprised if he has PTSD from all the bullshit he has seen as a kid
BUT YEAH Jak3 and onwards he got his shit together and decided to calm the heck down, haha. He was still edgy but more mellowed out by comparison.

Haha for reals, glad he got over the moody teenager bit pretty quick. Though his character in Jak II was my favorite of all of them because I think he was the most interesting and had the most focus and motivation for his goals. But yeah HE DESERVES TO BE HAPPY, let the boy live his life, yo.
True, he was at pretty interesting in Jak II as it was such a drastic change from the relatively happy go-lucky fella he was in the first game and he did have some understandable motivation to want to get back at the Baron and destroy the Metalhead leader. And I'd like to hope that after Jak X, he did ge to live a relatively happy life with Keira haha
Being heartless has nothing to do with hurting innocent or deserving people, haha. It just means you don't take others and their feelings into consideration... That's it. Doesn't mean he's a bad guy or evil or anything, just a jerk, like most moody teenagers are before they eventually grow out of it. And he did grow out of it during Jak 3.
If Jak were never a jerk, then his entire redemption arc in Jak 3 would be meaningless, his character development would have been a flat line instead of a curve throughout the trilogy, because there'd be nothing to redeem to begin with.
