January prompt for my group that I forgot to upload here. Not entirely happy with it but PS kept crashing so something is better than nothing imo :') I'm rusty with timed speedpaints. I gotta get back into the habit again. I've got so many ideas floating around in my brain that I just need to work on quick arts lately. Gonna grind for lots of exp after Katsucon~

Starpaw made their way along Silentfog river, the snow underpaw crunching with every pawstep they took. The she-cat watched the powdery flakes falling from the rolling clouds before continuing their quest along the river. They were sent by Rabbitstare, their mentor, to see if they could find any surviving herbs amongst the frost and harsh cold. Leaf-bare was always rampant with greencough and other ailments. Ela could use all the herbs they could get to treat every clan cat throughout the territories.
Making their way along the shoreline, the river began to pick up, diverting the medicine cat apprentice attention for a moment. Hopping on top of one of the slippery rocks, the she-cat waited until they were sure they had strong footing before peering down at the rushing river beneath them. A pang of sorrow tore through them as they recalled their father's words, moons earlier.
"So long as there are fish in the river you'll never starve."
He had taught Starpaw and their brother so much in such a short amount of time. Survival skills that the two siblings would carry with them for the rest of their lives. Starpaw utilized their fishing skills to hunt for their brother during the journey to the Halycon. Though times were tough and the two fought for their lives they persevered and made it through. They glanced up at the sky, hoping that their father and mother, wherever they were - looked upon them with a fierce proudness coursing through their fur.
Feeling snow begin to dot their pelt, the medicine cat apprentice shook their fur and continued onward keeping their senses peeled for herbs hidden amongst the cold.
