It's true that Danielle is young and trusting, but not stupid. She's also acutely aware of the social roles she's expected to obey, which have a lot to say about interactions between unmarried members of the opposite sex within species. I'm sure Hazyl had a talk with her about that prior to introducing her into society, too.
