actually, a password like "GallopingGayUnicorns" would take 100x's longer to crack than "1<3Ch33s3" and replacing all e's with 3's is counterproductive if a rainbow table is used, not to mention you reaaaallly do not subsequent same characters ie. cheese, the ee would take half a sec in a brute-force attack as its the same letter so no changing of character keys is needed, and if used in a dictionary attach cheese would definitely get cracked.

it would add a bit more security so long as its still long, for example
---- unicorns --- 8 letters no uppercase, not secure
---- Unicorns --- 8 letters, 1 uppercase, now there are 2 sets 26 characters that an machine would have to break instead of one
---- GallopingGayUnicorns --- make it 20 characters long, and now it'll take 3x as long to crack than the above password
---- Gallop!ngGayUn!corn$ --- adding special characters added 95 ascii characters to brutefirce ontop of the 2, 26 alphanumeric characters
---- Ga110p!ngGayUn!c0rn$ --- then add the 10 numeric characters and walla an stupid password that hopefully YOU can remember but won't ever be broken by bruteforce..... that is unless you use the same password everywhere and some stupid site from ten-buck-two gets hacked and now some loser script kiddie has access to your bank account, all because you wanted to play the web browser game
it's happened before, not to me though ^-^ but it has happened :P
