The below is a story excerpt from my own urban supernatural 'verse that I adapted into anthro-horse shenaniganry. It took me a while to get the poses and clothing figured out but I am still quite happy with how it turned out. c:
Basically what's going on is a war between the two characters' factions, started by the vampire leader who is basically undoing all that his predecessor strove to do; he's the werebeast/vampire negotiations guy and she's a vampire POW with a trauma disorder who needed to ground herself in the current reality.
Selina sat up and crossed her arms, deflating as she had a realization. “…I am the absolute worst one they could have put outside your responsibilities. Don’t you normally accompany interrogators when it’s a vampire involved?” This time it was Chiro’s turn to deflate.
“Dammit. Yes,” he answered, covering his face with his hands. “I would’ve been able to ensure no modern derivatives of those things are used on you. As it stands I can only tell them and all you can do is hope they listen to me. Some of them have a horrible track record for that… just so you know, Circe,” he warned, looking over at the agent with a deeply apologetic expression. Selina’s face cracked into a fearfully nervous smile, and she set her feet on the floor to sit on the edge of the bed as well.
“Haha… I’m going to be an absolute f***ing wreck…” she muttered, a scared laugh escaping her. Chiro moved closer to put his hand on her shoulder comfortingly, as she sat with her chin in her hands and her fingers tapping a pattern on her cheeks. “All of Johannes’, Salizar’s, and Kat’s work…Undone.”
“Circe, I’ll try to get you put back under my jurisdiction,” Chiro said. She turned her face to him. “I can’t promise anything, but I’ll try- Hey!” Chiro found himself suddenly being squeezed in a frightened embrace. Fretting, he glanced toward the door and the corners of the cell before patting Selina on the back, feeling very awkward. It was an uncomfortable minute before the agent let go and apologized.
“Sorry. Nearly had another break. Had to ground myself in reality and you were conveniently here,” she said sheepishly.
“… It’s- It’s fine. Just startled me,” Chiro replied. “I’m not used to you Acheron elite being that close without being threatening anymore. I need to go now, but I’ll try to come visit on my free time if it will help keep you grounded,” he continued, standing up to leave. He extended a hand to her, which she took and shook once gratefully.
