My good pal, Paul Lenoue, bought me a month of WoW, and walked me thru creating a character via Skype. Alas, his money and effort were wasted, for I haven't gone back, so far. I like to chat with friends, but I have no real need to pretend I'm on a "quest" while I do. Maybe when the tech gets to Holodeck level, I'll succumb. Until then, I'll just have to imagine having sex with cartoon characters.

WoW is like an IM client with a game attached. It's big enough that a lot of people can connect at once, but it's personal enough that you can always go to another server and do the exact same thing with friends in different time zones. Sometimes I just go to chat with friends and fly around the map looking for herbs to pass the time.

You should take a closer look at Second Life in that case. No, seriously. For creative types there's lot of fun to be had in the freedom to create whatever character you like - and to be able to share that fantasy with others, be it an erotic fantasy or not. And if you build stuff in there, it seems much less like a waste of time than a video game.
Got me hooked far more than WoW. Then again, I always enjoyed making stuff more than consuming it. Second Lifes user interface is awful, btw. If you decide to check it out and would like somebody to show you the ropes, drop me a note.
Enjoy your "day in the life" comics a lot, btw. Like much of your work, they've got that 60ies/70ies "underground" comic vibe going that love so much.
