A new illustration I got to finish coloring last week =) A young man feels like exploring ruins in search for lost treasures.. but you won't believe what he finds there! ;)

"Wandering away from the tour Jake ducked under a low hanging stone lintel and made his way cautiously down the ancient stone steps. He’d been walking around after the guides all day waiting for a chance to slip away and it had finally come.
One of the ladies had taken faint from the heat, she’d not been drinking enough and whilst everyone was gathered around to make a fuss of her he’d slipped away. Pulling the small pen light he’d brought with him out of a pocket Jake turned it on and ran it along the ancient stonework.
The tunnel at the bottom of the stairs was dry and dusty, the sandstone blocks closely fitted together ancient and unadorned. But the way was open so he moved on, his sneakers raising little clouds of dusty sand as he went. The corridor branched after a few minutes and Jake made sure to make note of which turning he took, he had no desire to get lost. But he was sure as hell going to find something to take home, some lost trinket or carved piece of stone.
Pausing at another junction he swung his light left then right and tried to decide which passage to take. Left looked narrower and angled up toward the surface whilst the right hand passage headed deeper into the earth. Making a mark on his map he headed right and descended into the ruins. His choice was rewarded with a large wide, open chamber, massive carved pillars reaching up toward the ceiling. There were or had been windows along each side of the massive hall but now they were blocked by mounds of sand.
“I guess this used to be above ground once,” Jake murmured to himself as he swung the torch around searching. Five minutes turned into twenty as he swept the ancient temple or gathering chamber and found nothing. It had been cleared out some time centuries ago and eventually he made his way over to the altar and looked behind it.
There was a small embrasure, a narrow opening and a spiral staircase leading down so slipping through the gap Jake started down. The bottom was a disappointment, there was a radial landing with six different exits but they were all blocked. Rocks had fallen in at some point during the distant past and now each promising route was impassable.
“Except..” he mused to himself and moved closer to one of the passageways and shone the torch inside. Crouching down he could see a path, there was a large block or slate of ceiling tile cracked and stretched across the tunnel. But there was a gap, maybe two feet that allowed passage through to the clear tunnel beyond.
“Yes…” he breathed, this is why he was here, a proper undiscovered part of the temple complex. There was no way the rule bound bureaucrats and health and safety idiots who originally discovered this place would have permitted anyone to crawl through such a gap.
Holding his pen light between his teeth Jake got down and cautiously crawled forward through the gap. It took him awhile and he had to get down on his stomach and wriggle forward for a bit of it but then he was through and the ceiling retreated back up to where it should have been.
Smiling happily Jake aimed the torch ahead and started down the corridor. It opened out into a large octagonal chamber and with a spring in his step the young explorer headed forward, determined to find something! There was a pile of rubble on one side, but a passage in the other lead off to another room. As he approached Jake slowed, realising that what he had thought was a pile of rubble was in fact a huge hooded snake. It was massive with light blue coloured scales coiled and looped and bunched up atop themselves across the doorway.
Jake was about to back away when he spotted something unusual glinting in the light from his pen torch. Hanging from the snakes tail, held even by the looping coil of their final inches was a lamp. It was brass, or bronze and inscribed with hieroglyphics, it looked ancient, it looked valuable, it was certainly treasure so now all he needed to do was get it off the snake.
Crouching low the young human made sure not to shine his torch at the snake’s head and started to creep forward and around. He got within three feet of the sleeping snake, he could see their coils lifting and settling as they breathed the slow, steady breath of something asleep. Smiling Jake took another step and toppled, one of the flagstones was loose, his weight made it tip and crouched as he was he couldn’t recover and stumbled headfirst into the giant reptiles coiled bulk.
He bounced off, sliding down their body to land in a tangled heap on the floor, his penlight rolling off to one side. Lifting his head Jake gasped, breath catching in his throat as he found himself staring into the grumpy eyed stare of the massive snake. Their hood flared and Jake whimpered, remembering that cobras only flared their hoods out when they were about to bite and for a second the young explorer could see their sharp white fangs glinting in the reflected light of of torch.
Then the snakes eyes met his and they closed their mouth and shifted their bulk. Jake was vaguely aware of their tail raising, the lantern held firmly in their grip as they shifted their head from side to side and slithered closer. Closing his eyes Jake braced for the stinging pierce of their fangs and the melting flush of poison bearing him off to be snake food. But as the seconds passed the bite didn’t fall and something cool and slender flicked across one of his cheeks.
Opening his eyes he flinched at how close the snake was, the strange object sliding across his cheek was their tongue. The reptile hissed it out again and it flickered against his skin, a gentle caress swiftly followed by a less than gentle hug as they shifted their bulk forward. In a matter of moments those soft blue scales had rolled over his prone body and were pressing themselves up beneath him. Yelling in alarm Jake tried to get away, pressing his hands down against the stone floor in an attempt to push off. He was too late, his knees pressed down on firm, unyielding scales as the snakes bulk slid firmly under him.
There was nothing for Jake to push off from, just the snakes thick body and she was massive and had him firmly held in her grip now. Crying Jake thrashed, wriggling around but her bulk shifted and moved with him, coiling body deftly gripping, squeezing, wrapping him firmly and leaving him without an exit. She was massive and as he wiggled Jake found himself lying face down and she brought her head back down face to face with his and hissed once again. Her forked tongue flickered out, tasting the air and without really thinking about it Jake did the same, sticking his tongue out and frowning as weird thoughts flickered through his mind.
The snake was female, he wasn’t sure how he knew this but he just did and there was something else, a scent… a taste… on the air that part of his brain associated with her. It was baffling and he wasn’t quite sure what to make of it when she started to roll her coiled bulk, rubbing her looped coils up and down against his trapped body.
“Oh boy… this is it…” Jake closed his eyes, expecting her to squeeze the life out of him or push him up and into her dislocated jaws, swallowing him whole. Instead the undulating motion continued and when he looked again Jake realised she was hugging him… or at least that is what it felt like, a gentle, teasing, welcoming embrace.
He stuck his tongue out again and hissed, forked tongue slithering out between lips that were growing parched and peeling back as his head pushed forward. With a start what was happening to him slammed home and Jake cried, redoubling his wriggling efforts to slip free of her embrace but it was hopeless, she held him tightly.
The changes to his lips and face however were overshadowed as a pressure built at the base of his spine. He could literally feel the bulge thickening, lengthening, stretching and as he twisted around he caught a glimpse of the twitching, lengthening tail emerging from his rear! He cried out and then gasps as his shoes fell off, they were suddenly way too small and his trousers were hanging baggy and large around his hips! As his tail stretched and flexed, the smooth skin pebbling and bulging with the growth of scales his legs were shrinking!
“No… stop… pleassssssee,” he hissed the last word, new forked tongue slithering out of his now lipless reptilian head as his ears elongated, the soft cartilage and flesh merging to his neck, travelling down his narrowing shoulders. His arms were lowering to the floor and Jake watched in disbelief as his skin bubbled and pebbled and started to break out into golden scales.
They were spreading down his body, he could feel them sliding and breaking out down the length of his back and along his lengthening, barreling, coiling legs. His torso was extending too and Jake groaned as he lost all definition, thick, pale beige scutes or underplates were replacing the skin on his stomach and the underside of his legs. They crept up his neck which was thickening and merging with the longer flaps of scale ad flesh that his ears had transformed into. He was developing a hood much like the blue snake still coiling and squeezing, hugging and rubbing their scaled body against him.
Whimpering Jake felt his tail thickening, flopping and twitching and sliding, embraced and rubbed and squeezed by the female snakes own body. His legs and feet however were all but gone, thinning, sliding, receding into his body, shrinking away as his tail grew! It was insane, he had to get away, had to stop this but all he could do was flop and roll as he lost his legs, his limbs receding relentlessly as his tail grew muscular and strong, mobile and defined. He had no need of legs it seemed if he was going to be a snake and so his body was absorbing them and putting their mass to better use.
As his body lengthened the thicker scales on his body spread, covering his entire underside. As they spread and his body adjusted, his new muscles flexed and twitched, the scales beneath him brushed and slid and gripped the scaled body of his captor and he found himself able to move! Her grip loosened and his body arched up, a large loop of sandy scales that was not touching the ground. He slithered off her coils and raised his head, his body was all one long tubular shape, slithering forward, his tail coiling backwards behind him and still growing.
With a soft moan he tried to plead with the snake to stop but he couldn’t form the words. His teeth had receded leaving behind fangs, his tongue was now nestled in a sheath at the base of his shifting, morphing mouth and it seemed his changing neck and spreading skull had eradicated his vocal chords.
His attempts to form words just came out as clicks and hisses and with an unsettling motion his jaw unhinged! He felt the tendons stretch, his mouth opened wider, wider then it possibly should go and with an uncomfortable pulse of sound his ears popped. Except he had no ears, just hidden ear canals tucked into the folds of his new hood as he closed his jaw and felt everything settle back into place.
Turning his head he looked at his arms, they were still there, though shrinking, pulling back into his body. He clawed at the ground, trying to grip with fingers that would no longer respond properly. Everything was narrowing and melding, shifting and twisting and reshaping. His arms grew thinner, his shoulders ceased to be and the nubby lengths of flesh and scales pressed and melded into his sides until they were gone.
Jake’s hair had fallen out or been re-absorbed as he grew bigger, bulking up as his body lengthened. It was weird he could move, he could slither but he didn’t know what to do or why or how to stop it. He didn’t want to be a snake. But here he was, his growth slowing down, his blue t-shirt now clinging to his smooth scaled tube like body, sleeves empty and devoid of arms. His blue captor was still coiling herself around him, the lamp held in the loop of her tail.
She slid her head up under his and nuzzled in, her tongue hissing out, tasting the air. Jake hissed back, her scent tickling strange new emotions and instincts at the back of his head. His nose was now just two slits atop his bulbous muzzle but his tongue, gods the things it could sense in the air were amazing. Shifting his bulk, hissing softly Jake twisted his head and looked down into the warm, watching, waiting eyes of the blue snake. She’d done this to him, robbed him of his humanity but there didn’t seem to be any going back, with his voice gone anyone who found his clothes would just think they had eaten him! He was a snake, how did you reconcile with that happening to you? Humanity stripped away, lost deep in a desert ruin, life stripped away leaving you as a voiceless beast yet with his mind still racing, moving, thinking behind his new, lidless reptilian eyes.
He… was… just… a… snake..."
