Woohoo, I finally seem to have broken some of my artist block. Yay!

Anyway, a painting I've been working on for about two weeks.

Characters are Eurydice the mermaid and Delphine the human.

In short their story is still sorta in the works (as everything with me is :| ) but as a quick overview, Eurydice is a mermaid from a patriarchal bunch of tribes and bad stuff happened to her so that she was able to meet Delphine, who lives in a run-down crumbling mansion on the seaside.

Delphine's interests include sculpture, painting and wearing huge poofy dresses just for the lulz; Eurydice's interests include fish, her daughter Nara (not pictured) and exploring human stuff.

As you can see I like long or tall compositions that have a certain air of awkwardness and separation to them. I wanted to show their different worlds but they still think about each other. Mostly Eurydice wanting to return to Delphine, one of the first safe places she's known. Even if Delphine is somewhat mentally ill.

Medium is watercolor and gouache on the same 20x50 cm paper :P You should listen to some Ulrich Schnauss or some Marta Sebestyen while looking at this.

I also have a brand new respect for the color yellow. Gamboge will be my new best friend 4evar
