He's very much like an animal, and for all people within furry fandom are into the animal scene, I've seen shockingly few that understand how they really think.
Animals (at least wild ones) take few things for granted - not even apex predators. Only once his nose told him his lair was bereft of lethal threats did he finally relax and enter it.

Well, he does have the added complication that he's a *hunted* animal.
Let's just say he doesn't take much for granted any more. Not taking into account that his would be assassin still was armed was a rather stupid mistake and one he won't make again.
The biggest difference, though, is that Mort, unlike us, is nonsocial predator. He'd rather eat company than enjoy it. That's the part I find most refreshing... he's not evil. He's just s big predator.

Hey, I managed to hang with Mort for a while. As antisocial as the big fella is, he does take well to food bribes, tea, and not trying to kill him. ^.^
He has a lot of stories to tell, even if he insists they are all boring. Get him to stop trying to bite you in half, he might even tell you some!
