Kipple Species Ref Sheet
Kipples are a Closed Species that are associated with Hijinks, a closed species by my fiance.
You can see a full list of current traits here.
You can find official designs in the future in my gallery or in the Dune Shenanigans group on Deviantart.
Average Height: 2ft tall
Average weight: 15-25 pounds
Morphology: Kipples are amphibious, living along the coast. They nest in burrows or caves both above and below the water. When bearing young, they produce an egg case containing 1-3 young. All Kipples have inflatable pouches under their chin and along their tail. These pouches are used to escape predators, to ascend to the surface quickly, and as floatation devices for afternoon naps.
Feeding: Fish, seaweed, sea vegetables, occasional fruit. They tend to love juicy foods like cucumbers, melons, etc.
Personality: Kipples have playful personalities. They're intelligent enough to solve puzzles, participate in simple communication, and learn commands. They're on par with crows in this department.
Sounds: Kipples communicate with a series of clicks and squeaks not unlike otters but can make sounds like that of a desert rain frog when playing or in distress.
Traits: Kipples can be seen with a variety of mutations due to their habitat's location on a ley line. Magic does odd things to animal genetics.
Relationship to Hijinks: Kipples and Hijinks are often seen playing together. Kipples exude a substance on their skin to help retain moisture. This substance is similar to catnip for Hijinks. Thus it's quite common to see them carrying Kipples around, licking them, and nesting with them. Kipples don't mind this as Hijinks give them transportation and are also quite happy in sharing food with their playmates.
