A picture I've had in mind since days, and which might be referring to one part of my "Dark Night"-cycle, which I still need to upload after translation into English. First sketch was done absolutely unreferenced, then I tried to check what I drew with some references at hand and must say I was astonished that I got the anatomy nearly exactly right. Seems that even I might improve slightly.
S'pose the title speaks for itself. I think I'm going to ink and colour this soon.

Awww! <3 I still think that a blushing cheetahess would be one of the most adorable things ever. :)
The head, face, and paws are pretty much the hardest part to get right, from what I've heard. Makes sense that doing the hardest part a bunch of times would make the rest come out better too. :) Besides, you're getting more experience with your new equipment, and you're training your eye to work with your hand far below line of sight. That's a lot different than pencil-and-paper work!

But I doodled on paper ^^"" - you're right, paws and heads have always given me the hardest time, followed by legs, the body seems to be the easiest part. And yes, I'm slowly getting used to the new huge tablet, though it gives me a hard time, since I cannot see my keyboard, which I have to push faaaaaaaar back, so I'm often doing a lot of annoying things with blindly using the wrong shortcuts, like cleaning the canvas accidentally (I tell you, that's shocking, though there is an undo-function, it freaks me out). I suppose for really doing art I'd need a better workstation and different table, but for that I'd need a laptop to be taken to bed with me. My workstation now is on rolls so I can pull it beside my bed. :/
Really really should try and get a laptop with enough power for things like Skype and stuff. *sigh*
I was already used to not having a look at what I'm doing with my right hand from my old tablet, but yes, it's completely different than paper work, both has its advantages for learning, digital can be easily removed and you won't see a thing, you do not waste paper and stuff, but for actually learning to be good at drawing I suppose paper is better on the long run. I just am afraid to "spoil" the sheet I have in front of me, as a child I was told not to do so and never had a supply of paper, so I didn't dare take the few sheets I had, and this is still in my mind "do not spoil it! Don't use it wastefully!".

Well, IDEALLY would be a better workstation and soforth, but you'd be amazed what you can do with relatively little space. I'm not sure exactly how large your tablet is, but what I ended up doing when I was using mine was to set my keyboard endtirely aside, and I used my FANG gamepad (with the macros programmed for photoshop) instead. Enough buttons for all my favourite shortcuts and then some, and only takes about fifteen centimeters by twenty on the desktop. It's relatively inexpensive also, and makes any program that uses a lot of shortcuts much more friendly. Pretty much any of the inexpensive Netbooks have more than enough power for Skype and the like, and a lot of them have built-in webcams and mics too, so you don't even need additional hardware. I've seen them frequently in the $400 range, which is a LOT less than you'd pay for a normal laptop. :)
I know exactly what you mean about having something drummed into you like that, for me it was ammunition. I shoot a lot with my father, and we have since I was a little kit. :) He was always telling me not to waste that shot, to take my time and make it right! One of those things that I got rather stuck in my head, so even now when I have a full box, I tend to shoot like I've only got one mag left. :) Makes for some really good groups, though. I'm one of those politically-incorrect Americans. :)

I'm a shooter, too. Bow and arrow, crossbow and revolver :P (though I haven't shot for about 5 years now, moved too far away to be practising with my master) - since my actual workspace is falling apart I think a new one if I should move would be suitable. We'll see what the future will bring *sigh* Even a $400-netbook is far beyond anything, I could not even raise the money for the treatment of my cat, so she had to be put down, I won't be able to afford a netbook either. But it's okay, I'm used to it.
*Nuzzles* I love old revolvers, they're just plain fun to shoot. :) I usually go shooting about once a week when the weather is decent, somewhat less during the winter months. Unfortunately, "bad" doesn't have enough syllables to describe my aim with a bow. I'm more likely to hit the side berms than I am the target. XD For some reason, I just can't manage to get it right. Probably has to do with not practicing it at all, really.
Myrrr, and you never know what the future might have in store, things can change very quickly. I didn't know about your cat, I'm really sorry to hear that, Khisa. If I ever had to have Molly put down, I'd be a wreck.

I shot with an old Ruger, owned by the shooting club I went to and with a Smith & Wesson for lefthanded people (I'm right-handed) - and did well with both, though the Ruger is not very precise and the S&W "wrong"handed for me. Maybe you've never had a good teacher with bow & arrow? I had, my master is the student of Prince Ganyuurin Dschero Khan ;) - it was Sifu who taught me to use the crossbow for the very first shot along with my master.
And yes, Lizzy had to be put down last year, when I opened for cheapest commissions to gather the money and save her life, just three days later she was gone. *sigh* it was a hard time and still is, because she was only 5 years old and my other cat, the male, had been 13 by that time already and Lizzy was his second female, as my other one died in 1998 at the age of two along with her whole litter, I'm simply not lucky with them. *nuzzle back*

I've got one of those old Rugers, actually. :D It's not the most accurate of my handguns, but it's a lot of fun! You're right about me not having a good instructor, though. I've never really had anyone instruct me with a bow or crossbow more than the safety basics, and care of the bow. It's one of those things that I'd really like to learn, especially if I could find a real English longbow.
Aww man, that's really rough, Khisa. I feel bad for him too, losing a second mate. *Ears droop* I really miss having my little girl Molly around, she's one of the nicest cats I've ever met. She's living at a friend's house until I can find a place that allows me to have pets. It was rather tough to sleep for the first couple of nights, I was very used to having her curled up next to my head on the pillow. Hopefully I'll be able to have her back with me before too long. :) *Purrs*
