Soft rays of the afternoon sun shone on the way as he walked the familiar path. He could feel a gentle breeze swishing, travelling among the trees, casting shadows on tiny bugs, diligently working bees, occasional lizard dashing under a rock or different cover. The season was in full blow. He couldn't help but think back to the last summer, their first meeting. Everything that's happened throughout past year made it seem like an eternity; and yet he saw that moment as clearly as if it was yesterday. She was there, looming in front of him, giant and majestic. He would stare at the fearsome figure in terror and fascination. So much has changed since... A slight change of balance made him glance down and slowly move back, revealing a deer print he had stepped in. He chuckled and strode onwards.
The air had changed, carrying tasteless but unmistakable refreshing scent with it. The wolf stood on a bank, watching little circles ripple the water. His own mind rippled with thoughts and memories as he leaned forward, facing own reflection. Wherever he went, they followed. Just like the weight on his neck, constant reminder that destiny works in mysterious ways. The deep blue eyes watched furred paw lift and touch the emerald. But this was his moment. A rare time he allowed himself to be alone, even if just for a brief while. Ears perked, catching lovely melody of bird's song. Matt looked up in direction of the tune and smiled. It took only a couple steps for the giant canine body to enter the pond. A few more and warm liquid coat closed around him, leaving all fears and worries behind, back with the blurry wolf.
