Hehe, I really liked the way that the transformation staggered between them as they tussled for the egg, and a really plausible distractor for the early stages of the transformation. I tend to think that the egg doesn't contain anything. It just breaks apart to show that they're permanently transformed now.
Bwahaha, excellent lightning and expressions to finish it off! What's in the egg? Easy: GLITTER! the forest will never recover.
My first exposure to changing sequences in european comics had mostly getting smaller and shrinking into clothes, so I have a particular fondness for those examples I see in the fandom.

Looking at the egg, my first thought was that it's breaking up meant they were stuck. But from the looks on their faces they must be looking at something that was revealed... -A beautiful glowing purple chicken? No? Probably not...
