Hey noodle what did you do today?
Well I woke up at 6:30 and headed to the living room, where I sorta just rested (not slept) until roughly 7:15. We got grandpa ready, then put him in his chair and gave him a haircut. He was super melty, but we (by which I mean, grandma) managed to do a really good job! After putting him back in bed, I grabbed a shower and decided to head out, since I had many plans!
The first thing I did was head to Pubix to try and get my script. I was a bit confused about why it was back-ordered (what does that even mean?), but found out that the factory that makes my meds was in Puerto Rico, and was destroyed when Maria went through. I can get the two different drops separate, but they're harder to find together. They did forward it to another Pubix in Naples, and said it would take a while. I grabbed a couple sushi rolls, ate, then went back inside to confirm the order was approved and the Naples Pubix had the goods. They do? Great!
From there I headed to the barber shop, which didn't take too long, and allowed me to get my hair nice and shot once more. After, I went to the bank, which was sorta “fun” trying to navigate the crowds of people trying to squeeze into the farmer's market, but I eventually did park beside the bank and deposit my check into the ATM.
After that I headed north, 'cause I knew it would take a while. How long? No idea, but I had water and figured I could at least try some of the trail in Picayune Strand State Park on Sabel Palm Road. I went to the familiar parking lot and found that besides being a lovely day (Somewhat cool, and with a constant wind), there was no water...THE TRAILS! THEY'RE FINALLY CLEAR!
I grabbed my water and some napkins, then threw them in a Walmart bag and set out. The first one was a multi, and it was pretty simple...But I did hafta poop in the woods after that one. The next 3 were pretty easy challenge caches (Dun qualify for them yet), then a regular, then more challenges before a long string of regulars, then more challenges. I gotta say, this hike was magical. The palm forests quickly gave way to pine forests, then cypress forests growing from the dry beds of seasonal swamps. Toward the back end of the trail, these forests yielded to an expansive prairie, where majestic clouds gathered overhead and the only company for miles around was the whisper of knee-high grass as it jostled in the wind. Wonderful! Almost alien-like!
The trail was rectangular shaped, with the longest sections being on the first and third part of the loop. The first section was pretty quick and easy and fine. The second section was pretty good for the first half, then by the second half I realized I needed to start rationing my water slightly. Also the trail disappeared beneath a large crop of difficult-to-maneuver grass. I did overcome this obstacle (and ugh, burs!), then started northward. The trail was once more easy to navigate, but it became clear that my find cache/sip water technique was leaving me with an overall hydration deficit, and my muscles were beginning to cramp up. I stopped looking for caches about a mile from the car (Easy to return to at a later date, however) and started counting my steps. I figured 1000 would get me to my car, and though I kept recounting and starting over, I did get there and downed a lot of water from my car's stash!
My script had been filled around 1:30ish, and by the time I reached my car it was roughly 3. I headed to Taco Bell, where I got 2 chipotle chicken sliders, a steak quesadilla meal with a soft shell taco, and a 4 pack of cinnabons all with a Baja Blast. I ate it in the parking lot, then headed to the north Pubix. I grabbed my script, then considered getting grandma a sushi roll, but was just too fleh.
...However as I drove home, I wanted to treat her, so I stopped at our Pubix and got her a nice California roll! She was happy to have it and to see me, and I was happy to be home! I grabbed a shower and went back to the living room, where I filled in cache logs until helping grandpa get ready for the night around 6ish. He was a bit agitated, but after getting him ready and giving him pudding, he was calm. Grandma fed him (I skipped dinner due to Taco Bell binge), then after getting him settled for the night, I finished filling logs until around 7:42, when I nebulized grandpa and headed back to my room. I relaxed on my bed and chatted with a conspiracy derg, Mani! He's the Maniest! C:
I wound up going to bed around 12:30ish. I hope everyone has a Mani-meeting day! <333
