01-10-19 [Reray: Ridged-Back Cave Runner]
Hey noodle what did you do today?
Well I woke up at 4:28ish and felt super rested, but saw I had more time to sleep. Ye! Also smol-dog Chloe jumped onto my bed at some point in the night and was sleeping near my feet. Awwww! <3
I woke up at 6:30 and went to the living room, where I was able to rest until about 7:15. We got grandpa ready for the day, and because Marty was bringing Taras over, I took Chloe on a smol walk before giving grandpa his juice (So grandma gave it). I came back inside and grandma was still playing the piano. She was on the last song (America the Beautiful) but kept screwing up the last part, and had to restart like 3 times. I read some stuff on my phone and played some Zeldo, then around 9ish Marty arrived with Taras. We ate, then I began to slowly settle into a nap. Marty left around 10ish and I was able to nap for a bit.
At around 11:30ish mum and dad came over, and I had to wake up...Guhhhhh. I eventually roused myself into wakefulness, then the three of us went out to the boat and tried to put it back over the water. It was a fairly easy routine, or would have been, were it not for the fact that the front-end crane holding the boat aloft had bolts that were splitting the wooden pole. Rather than pivoting like it should have been, we heard dangerous wooden cracks. Yikes! To overcome this dad doused the pivot-point with oil, and I went inside to get the WD-40 and paper towels (I suppose he didn't want to ask grandma about where it was located and have her worry about it). Eventually we managed to get the boat out over the water and the engine flushed...And we even pulled the cooler out and found it filled with half-rotten starfish. Yech!
Mum cleaned it out tho, and after letting it sit with bleach we went back inside and relaxed for a couple minutes. Nurse-Dawn arrived, we greeted her, then mum, dad, and I headed out. I drove them to the south end of the island where the tortoises live, but first passed by Denise's house. For some reason I couldn't remember her name (Why was I wanted to call her Darlene?), but got it and showed them the place...Couldn't stay long tho, since we kept getting vehicles behind us. From there I slowly drove around back roads and tho mum did see a tortoise in one lot, I wanted to take them to the GOOD one at Kirk and Caxambas. After using Google to find Caxambas (I was already on Caxambas CIRCUIT, but needed Caxambas DRIVE) I headed that way. We slowly ogled at lots and super ritzy houses before parking at the lot in question...
...And there were no tortoises! They were there last week, but I guess it's like the zoo, where the monkeys are always sleeping when you're visiting. We did see an iguana there, however, and he was a large gray boi who stood proudly atop a mound as we approached, before scurrying into a burrow as we approached. We left and visited another lot, and we did see a tortoise there (as well as a half-destroyed tortoise shell that had been bleached by the sun), but not much else. From there we headed to yet another lot and I saw a tortoise as we scooted by, so I parked and we got out, and this one was much better. We saw a large boi who scurried around (mum was scurred of him, but I protecc!), then I caught sight of a tiny babby in the foliage. We took photos and dad held him (tho put him down again when he started peeing), and then watched another tortoise emerge from the woods. We watched a bit then headed back (Mum picked up the tiny tortoise and his pee was now in a tiny and concentrated stream. Way to go lads!).
None of us were that hungry so we went to Ace's hardware (Parking problems...I think I get too close on the driver's side due to my depth perception) and dad got some fishing stuff and we got grandma some flood lights. After we went to Pubix and got some groceries. Mum and dad each got a parfait and I got a bit of sushi, then we headed north to McD's. I got dad a smol coffee with 2 creams and 2 sugars, (I thought they said $1.16, but actually said $1.60), then because we decided the alligators were too far, we went to the Marco museum. I ate my sushi in the parking lot and then we went inside. It's a free museum, but they recommend you donate $5, so I gave $10.
It was a cool museum! They had the Key Mrco Cat on loan from the Smithsonian, which was a 6 inch tall wooden figure of a cat excavated on the island back in the late 1800s. There were all sorts of really nice exhibits based on various historical periods of the island and the Natives and settlers who called it home...And I liked it! :D
We left around 3:50ish and headed home, and I relaxed on the floor beneath the glass table and played some Zeldo. I beat the Rito Divine Beast while we watched the Andy Griffin show where Opie had a bully. At around 5:30 mum and dad left and I did a little typing, then around 5:45 I got grandpa pudding and we got him ready around 6ish. He was a little chatty, but not in a negative way...Just confused about where we were going (“Nowhere, ha-ney”). While taking out the trash I took Chloe with me on a doggie walk and fixed the trash cans (Dad had put them too far into the yard, past where they needed to be). We walked around a bit and headed back inside after disturbing some birds in the tree next door to the house, causing them to fly off in a bit of a panic.
Once inside grandma said that there was some electrical arcing in the oven and she had to pour salt on it. Yikes! About 6:30ish the pizza was ready, and thanks to the compromised oven, it was nice and soft still. I ate 4 pieces 'cause the grandparents each only wanted 1. After, I cleaned up and had a chocolate chip cookie, then relaxed for a bit before nebulizing grandpa around 7:27. I headed to my room after, and spent some time playing vidya and typing. I did play some vidya before going to bed, and wound up watching an hour or so of Wind Waker Speedrans before going to bed around 11:30.
I hope everyone has a Key Marco Cat day! <333
