I have a few theories on inking. My journals has one on it.
I use microns primarily.
There are 2 schools of thought with me on inking
Outline (like a cartoon) which is fun and easy to look at but it takes away from making it seem 3d.
Dark and light. All shapes are defined by light and dark areas use large dark and light areas and dont "zebra" your picture by putting one next to the other too many times.
Of course you can combine these two.
Make Xerox copies of this pic and go nuts. Throw down broad strokes like a painter who is just starting to shape his subject.
sorry if im babbling..

It takes awhile to get the feel and understanding with it. I cant begin to count how many fuck ups i have had.
Have a picture (it doesn't have to be the same subject) to use as a reference. I really liked Bernie Wrightson.
Do you notice how my lines are REALLY thick on older art? That's because I was putting too much in a area that didn't need so much attention so to balance it out i ended up making EVERYTHING thick.
My style came from those fuck ups (Im not sure if thats the right way of doing it)
Make copies and be ballsy about it!

heh yeah but I've been drawing since I was 2, and now I'm 30 (old man is OLD T_T) I just have alot of hand tremors that are magnified when I ink.
Since paper is very rare and expensive for me to get (only due to other needs), inking and fucking up to gain experince is not a waist of money I'm willing to try (so I'm trying to put effort more into Digital inking).
But all and all thanks for the kind words.
